Question about 1999 Chevrolet 3500
What tranny is in a 1995 chev 3500 4x4 auto?
a shop, and think you should have a 4L-60 in it. These look just like a 700
R-4, but aren't. There isn't much difference in them, but according to my
books it should have the 4l60, but some were 4l80. The 4l80 was mostly for
the diesel engines though. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

The difference between the 60 and 80 are the number of bolts on the tranny pan. 16 is the 60 and 17 is the 80.

You have a 4l80E if your tranny is a overdrive 4-speed if it is a 3-speed you have a turbo 400 these are the only option for a 3500. no 4l60E, as this is for 1500 only. gm still used the turbo 400 into the 90's
