While running perfectly a/c pully locked causing belt to break. at the same tie power windows stpped working

    did youcheck the fuse? Have you replaced the pump and belt?

Belt for water pump and altneator keeps braking


you may be either tightening the belt to much causing it to break, or one of your pullys are stuck. With the belt off, try and turn every pully you see. All but the crankshaft pully should spin freely with no problem. also with your belt off, start your car to see if your crank pully is spinning.

My engine upon starting squeals and gets louder when i accelerate, every once in s blue moon it will stop for a few mins or quiet down????? help


There are only 4 things that will cause a belt to squeal.
1. A bad/worn-out belt
2. A bad or misaligned pully or pulley bearing
3. A bad belt tensioner. (pulley, arm, pivot, or spring)
4. Malfunctioning or bad component (alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor, etc.)

Remove the belt and check ALL pullies to make sure that they rotate smoothly and do not have any horizontal play in them (indicating worn-out bearings). Make sure that the tensioner pully swings freely and does not bind in its travel at any point and that it is properly aligned with the other pullies. A good way to check for proper alignment is to look at the belt position on the pullies with the engine running. If the belt is running on the edge of the pullies instead of in the center, it is usually caused by a bad belt tensioner or a bad bearing on one of the other pullies.

Check the belt for chunks missing, torn or cracked ribs or shiny "glazed" edges, ribs, or back.

What would cause my ac belt to break on my 97 dodge caravan the pullies move without the belt being attached ,but we did have a big squealing noise when we used the ac..


The squealing is from the crankshaft p[ulley turn the belt on another pulley that is not turning as faster, Let it sqeal long enough and it will burn the belt in half. The pulley on the A/C maybe turning freely, but when you engage the A/C, the compressor itself is not, causing it to squeal. My guess is that the compressor is locking up or you have added to much freon. Having to much freon causes to much pressure buid up and will stop the compressor.

What is a tensioner & how often do they break?


Tensioners are a sort of pulley that spins on a bearing that puts pressure/tension on a belt. Tensioners are recommended to be replaced about 50-60 K miles when doing routine belt service like a timing belt or serpentine belt. If they are not replaced the bearings can wear out and lock the tensioner and possibly break it.

Hard to steer and air conditioner went and the battery charging light on


Do not drive the vehicle any more or it will soon die when the battery is dead. The serpentine belt broke and the alternator is not working leaving the vehicle running off the battery and it is not being charged.

Is fixing the alternator belt on a renault scenic an easy job?


No timing involved with the belt. Something caused it to come off if didn't break one of the pulleys it runs on can be locked up or worn so that it wobbles. Water pump pulley is most common cause of trouble.

Belt problem after replacing power steering pump and pully 98ram


If the tensioner can be moved by hand the lock down bolt is not doing its job. Try to tighten the bolt with the belt pulled tight and then release. If the belt loosens the bolt is not working as it should. Make sure theres a lock washer (split lock washer) between the bolt head and the post.

I replaced my altenator a week ago. Now my power


There are several possibilities.
1. power steering pump locked up or locking up (extremely low fluid could cause this)
2. a random pully could have locked up and caused the belt to break, resulting in a loss of power steering.

you got a tensioner or idler pully going bad, or your ac pump is trying to tie up. the belt is not running true on thoes pullys and it is comming off.

SERP BELT KEEP BREAKING EVERY 30 MILES


For the belt, did you have it on perfectly? If it's off one ridge, it will wear out and brake that quickly. If you did have in on perfectly, there might be a stuck pully someplace. Can you spin all pullys easily? Execpt for the crank that is of course. If not, that pully is causing the problem or I should say what ever the pully is attached too. Like altenator, steering pump, etc... As for the no start, I assume you mean it's not cranking over? I'm making sure, no offense intended. It was running fine then you shut it off, it wouldn't crank? If so, sounds like the problem with altenator. Which if it's siezed, never seen one though, it could be the problem for BOTH of your problems.
