Wont shift automatically at all. I meant the truck is a $Wd, but in 2wd the truck will not shift automaticvally without reving engine and shifting manually.

no error lights and no check engine light. Not a prob necessarily 4WD. Running in 2WD won't shift automatically anymore without reving up engine and shfting column manually. Ran fine until alll of a sudden this happened.

if any sensor was bad the on board computer would read it and record a code and the engine light would come on. It is NOT showing any engine light or codes.

sounds like you need to replace selonoid number is burned out

  • Daniel Berry Sep 12, 2010

heres what i would do i would take the transmition and a voltmeter and check every sensor conected to that trany for low voltage but that transmition you have the gears run on metal bands and if those bands stretch then you would loose a gear and this is a high possibility could be need a tranny rebuild too to replace them but id start with the sensors maybe a selonoid is not working one for each gear that sends signal back and forth

1999 suburban gage oil pressure is 0 when it warms up. rpm drop to 3-4 rpm when oil pressure goes to 0. Sounds good, runs excellent -no noise. Actually it sound better then most new cars. It is so...

I looked at info for 1500--5.7L engine.
6 psi @ 1000 rpms
18 psi@2000 rpms
24 psi @ 4000 rpms

Sometimes, you can use analog gage in place of oil pressure sending unit and double check oil pressure that way. If oil pressure is actually low, if high mileage engine, I doubt replacing oil pump will help. I just wanted to add, check oil pressure engine warmed up.

1996 GMC suburban wont upshift.

when u changed the fluid was it dark /brownish and smelt burnt and was their filings or shavings on the magnet in pan if so more than likely your transmission may be fried---a bad vacuum that would cause shifting problems would also cause the truck to run rough and or stall

I hae a 2000 dodge ram 4wd automatic and it wont shift just revs up real high

I have a 1999 Ram that does the same thing. according to my research try re-adjusting the transmission bands. Depending what gear the truck ramps in rpms depends on what band needs adjusted.....the first 2 gears can be adjusted outside the transmission but the third gear is internal....also new transmission fluid and filter is this doesnt solve the problem could be a solenoid....or governer pressure but that should throw a engine code is there is improper pressure. Hope this help GL

1992 GMC Suburban not shifting into OD, Transmission Modulator?

The shift down linkage on the carburetor below the gas pedal cable might need to be adjusted to increase the hydraulic pressure on the internal clutch plates in the transmission it shows you how to do that in a car manual.

Trannsmisson Problems

check carefully to make sure it is shifting from 1st to 2nd.... there is a "sun reactor shell" inside the transmission that when broken causes reverse, 2nd and fourth to be lost. it is an extremely common failure.

best way to check.... drive along with the gear shift lever in "2" you should feel one shift as you accelerate. then carefully bump it into "3" or "D" whichever the case may be. another shift should be felt. if you do not feel a shift, you have likely stripped the teeth of that shell. hope this helps..
