Question about Saturn S-Series

1 Answer

My 2000 Saturn S Series is making a lot of noise right under the transmission. i think the noise is coming from the catalytic convertor but i'm not sure if it needs replacing or a good checkup and some welding. The sound is almost like i dont have any headers but the noise is coming from under my car.

Where are transmission sensors? transmission makes heavy clunk sound (only sometimes, when engine is 'hot') when shifting from first to second only.

I have a 2005 mazda 3 and when i put it in park it overheats on me but put it in drive and its fine

a lot of things could be wrong here there could be a clog some where in the cooling system when you put the transmission in park the idle increases which makes the engine run hotter do you here your electric engine fan come on at all how are your catalytic convertors a bad one will make engine temp go very high see when your driving your wind cooling the motor but when you stop the engine fan should come on to cool down the motor is there plenty of antifreeze in the radiator coolant recovery bottle and the radiator is your exhaust system quiet or are is it making noise a loss of back pressure will cause higher engine temps also you must try to narrow it down and be more precise and the solution will come LATER MAN!

Loss of power and a clicking noise

Could be that the catalytic convertor is coming apart inside and plugging the exhaust when you stop it moves forward and rattles.

I am looking at 2002 satuurn l200 with 146,000 miles on it. Car runs great very smooth, they are asking $2500 for it, is this a good deal. Do these cars have problems with the timeing chain? Thank You

These dont have problem with timing chain. They have a high tendency to burn oil. They also have a high failure rate for the catalytic convertor. If its a automatic transmission the reverse goes out to easy and some times there is no reverse(they put the solenoid in parallel) . The paint well it peels off (the clear part of it. I owned a 2001 Saturn I loved it and so did tow truck drivers

Rattle right rear 2000 buick lebsabre

most likely the rubber mount is lost which holds the exhaust pipe after the catalytic convertor and it is touching the vehicle body now which creats this noise.

My 1997 Saturn SL1 exhaust smells like rotten eggs, even after being driven 20 miles. It had sat for a while before today, when I bought it. Oxygen sensorwas replaced yesterday, and otherwise, it runs...

replace your catalytic convertor. you can go to a smog shop and have them perform a "cat efficiency test" and see what they tell you or simply go to a muffler shop have them install one.

02 sensor where does it go can't seem to find it in the engine

O2 sensor is right after your exhaust catalytic convertor. Open the hood of your car and look right infront of the engine. O2 sensors are not on the engine. They are on the pipe that comes out of the front of the engine. They are right within your reach. It has pig tail wire. Looks like a cylinder. There are two of them. One before catalytic convertor and one right after catalytic convertor.
Like I said catalytic convertor sits right in front of the engine right after your radiator. Looks like a big cylinder.
good luck
