Question about 2006 Acura Rdx

Monitoring system Hey guys, Got my RDX yesterday. Today I got a message from the monitoring system that my airbags would not work because here was a problem with the voltage. Guess I have to call my dealer tomorrow and see what I have to do. Has anyone else had a similar message?

Low battery voltage will make your car make a whole bunch of "fake DTC'S".  Have them check your battery.

Don't be so quick to jump to conclustions. Things like that can pop up due to a poorly done PDI (that's pre delivery inspection, in case you aren't familiar with the acronym) where the dealer prep team messed something up. I would be more concerned if someone said they had the engine seize up or if the SH-AWD stopped working. An airbag message, especially one like the one he got, isn't necessarily the result of poor assembly at the plant. Plus, one isolated incident isn't necessarily something to worry about either. If this starts popping up with more and more people, then it's time to be concerned. So in them meantime, let's all just take a deep breath and keep our eyes open

1st when the airbag light is on the system is disabled, so if u have an accident they will not work, as to the common cause read below.
When the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the wheel

Airbag light stays on

When the Airbag light (SRS waring) is on or blinks it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the Airbag system. The most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted Airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called the clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the steering wheel while maintaining a mechanical connection to the airbag mounted on the steering wheel, to replace this part you must disarm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, this requires a special steering wheel puller tool and that you disarm the Airbag system before you start the work, to do this disconnect the battery negative cable for 1/2 hour prior.

Air bag light is blinking

Guys! Are you readying your airbag system after messing around with your truck?

I've seen airbag lights come on for man reasons, faulty sensors, connections, replacing RADIOS! Removing seats!! All sorts of reasons. Personally I bought my QX56 with the airbag light blinking. Drove me crazy for 24 hours till I decided to reset it n see what happened. It takes two minutes to do. No tools.

1. Turn key from off to on. (on meaning all your dash lights are on but your not cranking the motor)

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

My airbag light and horn not working on my crysler voyager 1997

hey guys with problems with the air bag lights on and horn not working in Chrysler Voyager...

this is the problem with the steering wheel clockwork spring. The connector that brings the wires from the steering wheel instruments (hord, airbag, cruise control) and takes it through the steering column to the car body but allows steering wheel to rotate without breaking the wires. The dealer should have adivised you that there is a life long warrantly from manufacturer of this part. There was a recall notice issued by Chrysler in 2003/4 to bring in car for replacement of part if the Airbag light came on. I got mine done last year under the recall.

VSA,SH/AWD AND ABS INDICATOR ALL ON

Not positive, but i think its because of the TPMS (tire preasure monitoring system) on the car. If the tpms valve stems were removed and replaced with normal valve stems then the car will register 0 psi in the tires, causing the alarms. Once again im not a mechanic but i think thats what your problem is.
