It will get hot. If it's glowing hot, it's probably clogged and needs to be replaced.

My Toyota avanza catalistic convetor gets red hot,I was told it has clogged.I have bought a new one over the weekend but it still does the samething.

It could be a number of things. Your oxygen sensor comes to mind first. It tells the computer it is too rich or lean and the computer tells the throttle body and injectors to either lighten up on the fuel or add more. If it isn't working properly it can be in a rich mode telling the computer to ease up on the fuel causing the engine to run lean and cooking the catalytic converter. DON'T PARK ON DRY WEEDS!

After running about 35 minutes my truck starts to cut out and buck real hard especially under a load. I have replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. I'm starting to think electrical. Any...

The coil will do this as will a clogged catalist converter ( exhaust restriction ) Oxagen sensers will fail after getting too hot too and sometimes after coolant temperture sensers get hot they say their cool or even cold and thier not and give a rich mixture. Not all problems will turn the check engine light on, not a lying senser ( a failed altogether one will) Are the check engine lght on and has the oil been changed recently? If you have a missfire the fuel from the missing cyclinder ends up in the oil and it'll heat up and the fuel blows out of the oil and goes though the venting system and makes the mixture too rich. A therostate that does let the engine warm up all the way will do this too as the engine will stay cold and therefore rich to warm up the engine. Being you didn't list the year ro model or car or truck or engine size I can only guess and if it's a carborated vehical theirs still other things to check.

Catalistic low bank 1

Your catalytic converter is bad. First start with the h2 sensor first. You might get lucky and that is the only problem. I would replace both for best results

Replaced my fuel pump & filter...after about an hour driving, the vehicle started struggling for power, surging. No lights came on...the more I accelerated or decreased speed, the worse it got. What is...

The fuel presure needs checked to make sure that the pressure is the 50-55 that the system wants. if it is OK then the catalist converter in the exhaust or other exhaust restriction is likly. Remove the upsteam oxagen senser and run it their should not be more than 3 PSI pressure at the hole the O/2 sendser was in. Sure it'll run with the O/2 out long enought to test it just leave the wire hooked up. Don't drop the o/2 senser as it's easy to break. if the pressure is high and it may have to be hot to fail the test. But if it tests the same both hot and cold and it's less than 3 PSI your looking somewhere elese.

Underperforming catalist

readings taken downstream (exhaust) with the O2 sensor are telling your computer that the catalytic converter is not doing its job well enough (it is reading too high an exhaust content of carbon monoxide or hydrocarbons) the solution is to replace the catalytic converter assuming the engine and its other management systems are performing healthy ....good luck
