Question about 2005 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
I have problems with my tail gate, any advise?
I have a problem with my ignition. The key wont turn in the ignition. Just bought R350, 2007. What am I doing wrong.

Agree with above. There was a problem with mine as well. The gate required a new latch and the hydraulic mechanism after which it was completely fixed. Over a year now. NO new problems.

Is the latch not pulling shut or is the liftgate coming back open?

I believe there are one or more service bulletins out on the tail gate issue, so you are not alone. I have seen a vehicle with this issue. The bullitin states adjust latch/ do not replace. We tried to adjust 4 times and ended up installing a new latch to remedy.

more likely than not the latch has closed some how if you have some one hold the the handle to open the tailgate you can open the latch by hand with a screw driver if your not sure what it should look like look at another door latch in the open position very simple to do and you cant hurt anything doing it this way
