Hi, Iwork at a Mercedes Benz Dealer in Scotland, yes it can be common for MB vehicles to have squealing brakes but a cure is avaliable, remove the wheels and take out the brake pads, rub the brake pads with course sandpaper then refit, this will sort the problem and so long as you are not doing short journeys all the time or washing the wheels just after a long run, the problem should stay away

I have had MB vehicles for 10 years now and the brakes ALWAYS squeak. I feel like any time after 10k miles, expect it. I live in west LA and there are hundreds of MBs here. They all squeak. Sad but true.

You will need to pull the wheel off and inspect the brakes. Spray some brake fluid cleaner on the rotor and disc area to clean the brake dust off. Next, have the wheel bearing checked and replaced, a bad wheel bearing would cause your wheel to squeak.

dear friend-what im about to tell you now will not be approved by my fellow experts but believe me it works.remove the disc pads and get your hands on some copper compound.put a thin layer of compound on the surface of the pad rub it in and then wipe light with a cloth, you can also put some of the compound on the back of the pad between the pad and the place,re-assemble and your squeek should be gone.

The ABS light could be just a misaligned sensor on the wheel or even a dirty harness plug in, many times repaired by just cleaning.
You should I would check out the pulleys and belt tensioner very soon as when they began making noises they can swarm very quickly causing damage to several items.

My 2004 chevy tahoe makes a squeaking noise while driving and now there's brake dust forming on the rims.

If the squeeking is happening over bumps, and is not related to breaking, it could be a bearing in the steering linkage. My tahoe is doing the same thing, and my local garage says it is only a dealer fix. That is why I am searching this site now, is to find out if anyone else is complaining about this. I was told that GM is fully aware of this problem.

front lower ball joints are possible cause, they wear out and start all kinds of noises, uppers are also suspect, either the ball joint or the control arm bushings. Did you put the anti squeek shims behind the pads?
