  • Tighten the 2 brake caliper mounting bolts to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) . Caliper Mounting Bracket to Knuckle, Front (15 series) 175 Nm (129 ft. lbs.) Caliper Mounting Bracket to Knuckle, Front (25/35 series) 300 Nm (221 ft. lbs.) Brake Caliper Mounting Bolt Rear (15 series) 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.)     SOURCE: 2004 silverado rear brake torque specification,

    31 ft lbs for caliper to bracket, then caliper bracket to nuckle is.148 ft lbs for 6400 & 7200 lbs GVWR or
    122 ft lbs for 9900 lbs GVWR or
    221 ft lbs for 12300 lbs GVWR.

    2004 silverado rear brake torque specification, had to replace rotor, need specs for both the set that attaches caliper bracket to knuckle and calipers to bracket, the pads that are required is GMKD792


    31 ft lbs for caliper to bracket, then caliper bracket to nuckle is.148 ft lbs for 6400 & 7200 lbs GVWR or
    122 ft lbs for 9900 lbs GVWR or
    221 ft lbs for 12300 lbs GVWR.

    There should just be two bolts that hold the caliper to the caliper bracket. Just unbolt them an pry off the caliper with a screwdriver.

    How do I take the caliper off of my 2004 dodge ram 2500?


    1. Raise and support the front end on jackstands.
    2. Remove the wheels.
    3. Press the caliper piston back into the bore with a suitable prytool. Use a large C-clamp to drive the piston into the bore of additional force is required.
    4. Remove the caliper mounting bolts with a 3/8 in. hex wrench or socket.
    5. Loosen the bolt that secures the front brake hose fitting bolt in the caliper.
    6. Rotate the caliper rearward off the rotor and out from its mount.

    7. Remove the front brake hose fitting bolt completely, then remove the caliper with the pads installed as an assembly. Take care not to drip fluid onto the pad surfaces.
    8. Cover the open end of the front brake hose fitting to prevent dirt entry.
    To install:
    1. Clean the caliper and steering knuckle sliding surfaces with a wire brush. Then, apply a coat of Mopar® multi-mileage grease or equivalent.
    2. Lubricate the caliper mounting bolts, collars, bushings and bores with Dow 111® or GE 661® silicone grease or equivalent.
    3. Install the caliper over the rotor and seat it in its original position until flush.
    4. Install the mounting bolts by hand, then tighten them to 38 ft. lbs. (51 Nm) on 2001–02 models; 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm) on 2003–05 models.
    5. Attach the brake hose, using new washers, and torque the bolt to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
    6. Install the wheels.
    7. Lower the vehicle.
    8. Pump the brakes several times to seat the pads.
