What is ECT

ECT stands for electronic controlled transmission. When the button is pushed the shift time is delayed for more power.
It would not prevent the transmission from shifting completely.

EJT power light came on, what is that?

This is a duplicate question to the one you asked with ECT right ?
ECT means electronic control transmission - - when you push the button on the shifter or console the transmission shifts later for more power.

What does the ect dash light mean

ECT stands for Electronically Controlled Transmission. When you push the button in, there should be a light on the dash that says "ECT POWER". This changes the normal shift times (based on engine vacuum, rpm, and throttle position to a later point. This means simply that the engine rpms will go higher before shifting to a higher gear when you're accelerating. It helps build speed more quickly but uses more gas to do so

What is the ECT power button for on the 1997 rav4

The ECT button (which stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission")
changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
is OFF. ECT acts like a turbo. Now dont go on street racing ;)

What does the ECT button do?

ECT means Electronically Controlled Transmission

The ECU has various shift patterns programmed into it.. When your ECT is on or "power" The ECT ECU will change the shift patterns and lock-up accordingly..

Your upshifts will come later and harder, at a higher speed.. depending on your throttle position..

ECT makes a Huge difference in all car
s where it is present

Unsure what the ECT button is

ECT power is an option that allows you to make the transmission stay in a lower gear for a longer period of time to allow the engine to "wind out" more. the higher the RPM for any given gear, the more power you can get to the wheels. it makes for quicker acceleration if the trans. shifts later.

Ect power?

The ECT button stand for Electronically Controlled Transmission. In short, what the button does is change the upshift points for the auto trans. Normally, the 1-2 upshift is at 15-19 mph, pressing the button changes the shift mph form 15-19 to 19-22/23. More often than not, this feature wiooould be used if you are hauling a heay load, and the ECT gets you up to speed faster, via the longer time as mentioned above re the shift mphs. Not very useful with normal driving, it really does not do much without a heavy load.
