HELP Morning.96 Intrepid.3.5L. Installed new tranny. Replaced crank sensor, cam sensor, egr, idle sensor. Car starts but the speedo acts like a tach. The engine surges up and down from idle to about 3000 RPM. When I put the car in drive, it kills the engine.any ideas.thanks.

Near the throttle body part there is a electronic idle control valve either this control valve is defect or there is a leak between the body and the valve.

Fuel trim will help,if the number are both positive at idle and go positive at a higher RPM you dealing with a fuel issue. There beem times the pressure regulator acts up,The EGR wont be the problem, you are stalling at idle,The famous crank, cam or ignition module, use a voltmeter or labscope measure the crank signal out put if its lower than 5 volts the ECM wont give a fuel signal.and the cam will not sychronize,I am going with the most popular failure a crank sensor as the solution,

1998 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 -- After running for 30 minutes, the car starts and runs rough. Driving up to temperature it runs fine. After sitting for 15 minutes or so, when starting it runs rough and will...

it sure sounds like you have an EGR problem. This valve controls the flow of unburned exhaust gases and re-routes them too the intake to be re-burned. This valve is usually open at highway or cruise speeds. Not usually open at idle. If this EGR valve is open at idle, you get a rough running for sure just like a mis fire and will smooth out as your speed increases. I would get that checked out and if faulty, replace. Please keep in mind that this part is quite expensive new, but it is electrically controlled. good luck!

2000 dodge intrepid 2.7 sputtering, revs up

you need to ck some basics you could have a vacuum leak which would hide during warm up but cause havoc when hot,the leak would cause high idle then your pcm would try to lower idle to spec thru use of idle control motor causing surging idle ,also fuel pressure needs to be checked while acting up,may be more cost effective to pay for an hour of diagnostic.
