Question about 2003 Saab 9-3

2 Answers

My 2003 saab 9.3 2.0t will barley accelorate unntill it gets to like 3rd gear, in first gear at 2000 rpm im have the same accelorations as i would with out my foot on the gas however once it gets to like 25 or 30 mph it has great acceloration, the other thing is that it works fine when i first start the car but three or four miles later it if i make a stop it will have no power with out any warning. at first i was thinking it was a stick throttle now in thinking its the turbo. also when i let it idle the turbine will but on and off and it will rev up and down about 500 rpm at a time, any ideas ?

Look underneath and see if the catalytic converters are glowing red. If it is glowing, the cat needs to be replaced. It is plugged and could cause these symptoms. To have it idle up and down, it could also have a vacuum leak or the air tube coming from the air filter going to the throttle body. If this tube is loose(due to a recent oil change, air filter replacement, or tear in the hose)it will cause these issues. I also assume that you have a check engine light on. Go to your local parts house and they can scan it for free. Let me know the code number and I can better advise but I am pretty certain we are in the ball park. Changing a fuel filter if it hasn't been done, would be a good idea. Let me know.

have you checked the engine for vacume leaks or advanced timing or even sticking accelorator cable or linkage? these are always a good place to start for excess acceleration
