Question about 2001 Hyundai XG300

1 Answer

My daughter's 2001 Hyundai XG300 threw the P0171 and P0174 codes a couple weeks ago. While driving it myself, I noticed that the idle RPM was getting fairly low at time. After looking online about these, I was about to get a new air flow meter when the car stalled for her at a light and added the codes P1191 and P1193. She was able to start it again and get home. So it is the air flow meter or fuel filter or something else?

Most likely the Mass Air Flow sensor. I had a similar problem and the codes you have ring a bell. Follow the above link for more information.
Look on-line for the parts. I found one for around $70, but they are $320 at the parts stores.
It's easy to change
Best wishes!

I have my engine light on, in my xg300 Hyundai 2001 if i replace the mass air flow sensor and my fuel air metering my light go off, Im a woman trying too fix my car my self pls help tks code...

check engine light will not go out or codes cleared till computer is cleared so if you have set off a code while trying to diagnose it will stay in memory with that in mind

PO171 & 174 are related to bank 2 lean o2 sensor reading high oxygen in exhaust at sensors
PO120 has to do with throttle position sensor input out of range
PO306 is a misfire in #6 cylinder

in my opinion any miss will cause o2 sensors to read lean because the cyl is in effect a air pump sensors only pick up o2 not the fuel does you engine run rough or hesitate/shaking on acceleration
i would check coil wire and plug for #6 also the injector not working will cause miss also they look ok do compression test on cyl will read 150psi if you find cause of miss you will be able to diagnose lean

with the tps sensor check to see if the connector was disconnected at any time you were testing

basically you need to isolate misfire and fix then have the computer cleared of codes drive car and if engine light comes on then we will go through test procedures for new codes

i hope this helps you to get a few ideals on how to proceed good luck ley me know

P1191 P1193 P1707 P0171 P0174 can you help me with these issues..........Car is running perfect...Dealership couldn't find a problem...all checked out???

The wiring harness behind your instrument cluster is probably dirty or loose.
The only other thing I can think of (and I hope it's wrong) is the main computer relay going bad. I had to have my replaced. Lights were there, but car was fine.
I wish you the best!

Visit http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ and
http://hyundai.wikia.com/wiki/OBD-II_Error_Codes
for the codes you have.

So the 171 and 174 indicate lean fuel/air, the 1191 and 1193 indicate the car is in limp home mode. And 1632 is a traction control issue.

The lean mixture might be as simple as a plugged fuel filter, or as complex as trouble with the injectors, the throttle position sensor, fuel pressure regulator, or fuel pump. How long since you replaced the fuel filter? If it has been close to or beyond the recommended interval this is a cheap ($20 for the part) and fairly easy thing to try.

The lean fuel/air could be the cause of the limp home mode.

The 1632 code is a traction control system malfunction. Could be an intermittent issue or occurred because the engine is operating erratically. With this code the car should still run fine, but the TCS won't work properly.

2005 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 OBD Codes P0171 and P0174

The P0420 code is a Catalytic converter efficiency code check the compression.Swap the #1 injector to a different location to see if the code follows.Test the coilpak. A cracked exhaust manifold is the most likely cause p0171 and 0174 Induction air leaks, vacuum or some kind fuel restriction, weak fuel pump, restricted fuel filter etc.You also could have an exhaust leak near the upstream o2 sensor. If youtake it in they will probably use smoke to find out where the leak is.
