Question about Audi A4

1 Answer

The coolant light comes on and the water temp goes to high within three minutes. It was fine until we took to jiffy lube. They said it needed a new radiator cap, which was worn, but did not solve the problem.

High oil warning ml350

Check the oil on the dipstick. If it is high, it may be contaminated with gas or coolant. You can smell if it is gas. If it is coolant, it will look milky brown color. That would point to a head gasket problem.

If the oil looks good and not contaminated, but still high, drain enough out the drain plug until oil is at proper level, or just go ahead and drain all the oil so it can be looked at at for contamination. Because if jiffy lube put too much in, you are right, the light should have come on sooner. The whirring noise could very well be from a high oil level, so look into all possibilities. If oil is not too high, it could be just a sensor problem-but it doesn't sound like it. Good luck.

My 2008 dodge ram temp gauge goes from normal to high ,check gauge lite comes on in a few minutes temp gauge goes back to normal but heater will only blow cold air I,ll shut heater off wait a few minutes...

Souds like it's way low on coolant. The heater will blow cold air when the cooling system is so low that there is no water (coolant) running through the heater core. Then the thermostat opens, it trys to be normal but the system is low so it gets too hot in just a few minutes. If its that low, there must be a leak somwhere.

Alright I'm some what ignorant when it comes to cars. I have a 99 chevy blazer 4wd power everything. My heat works fine and dandy. My AC on the other is not cold. It's warm. I also get some weird...

Sounds like you have a dying blower motor. That explains the whining in the dash. But if it's not cooling, bring it back to jiffy lube and ask why. have them show you that the compresser is operating, and that the lines are cold. If this is the case, then it can be a problem inside the dash, blend doors and all.Doubt if jiffy lube can help you there. You'll need a real mechanic. The Jiffy folks should have ethically discussed this with you when they took your cash.At my shop, if it doesn't work when we're done,we discuss it with you. Probably why I'm small and broke, and Jiffy lube is huge and rich! Good luck.

My temp gauge goes to the third line before fans come on and only the low fan comes on. I already replaced thermostat, engine coolant temp. sensor and radiator flush... any idea why high fans dont come on...

CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSES AND RELAYS. CHECK COOLANT LEVEL.MAKE SURE ITS NOT TOO LOW BECAUSE IF COOLANT TOO LOW . BY NO COOLANT AROUND OR COOLANT SENSOR NOT SUBMERGED IN COOLANT COOLING FANS WONT TURN ON.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER. CHECK FOR CLAPSE RADIATOR HOSES.CHECK RADIATOR HOSE AT WATER PUMP.IF HOSE LOOK CLAPSE REPLACE IT AND BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM.IF EVERY THING HAS BEEN DONE YOU NEED ENGINE BLOCK FLUSHED OUT.HEATER CORE ALSO COULD BE STOPPED UP.A VERY HIGH MILEAGE ENGINE WILL OVER HEAT.OLD ENGINE LOSES COMPRESSION AND HORSE POWER.PUTTING MORE LOAD ON THE OLD ENGINE WILL MAKE IT OVER HEAT.IF COOLANT LEVEL IS LOW.BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM.START THE ENGINE LET IT IDLE FEW MINUTES WATCH THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE.WHEN TEMPERATURE START RISING.TURN OFF THE ENGINE LET IT SET FOR 20 MINUTES.TAKE A LARGE RAG PLACE OVER RADIATOR CAP ON COOLANT EXPANSION TANK SLOWLY OPEN RADIATOR CAP JUST A LITTLE TO RELEASE A LITTLE PRESSURE AT A TIME.DONT OPEN CAP RAPIDLY OR YOU WILL GET SCALDED.ONCE THE RADIATOR CAP REMOVED.IF COOLANT LOW ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE THE COOLANT EXPANSION UNTIL YOU GET TO THE COLD MARK.REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE START ENGINE LET IT RUN UNTIL TEMP GAUGE START CLIMBING A BIT DONT LET CAR RUN TO OVER HEAT JUST IDLE UNTIL TEMP JUST START TO RISE.THEN YOU TURN OFF ENGINE. WAIT 20 MINUTES.THEN USE LARGE RAG OPEN RADIATOR CAP LITTLE AT A TIME. DO THIS PROCEDURE UNTIL THE COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK STOP DROPPING. THEN ALL THE AIR IS BLEED OUT THE COOLANT.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING, WHEN YOU DRIVE CAR AROUND.AND TURN OFF ENGINE.WHEN ENGINE OFF CAR SET FOR A WHILE KEEP CHECK ON THE COOLANT LEVEL IN COOLANT EXPANSION TANK. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE COLD MARK IN THE EXPANSION TANK.MAKE SURE COOLANT IS IN THE EXPANSION TANK.IF NOT AIR WILL DRAW IN COOLANT SYSTEM. CAUSING ENGINE TO OVER HEAT.IF BLEEDING AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM DONT HELP AND COOLANT FANS DONT TURN ON YOU HAVE PCM PROBLEMS.

1994 mercedes E320, radiator light has come on, unsure of problem as everything seems fine, any help appreciated

This usually just means the coolant level is low. If you are unsure how to check it yourself, ask a friend, or take it to a mechanic. The oil-change services (Jiffy-Lube, Q-Lube, etc.) will usually check and add coolant as part of their normal oil-change service as well, if you happen to be needing an oil change too.

If it was the water pump you should know very quickly. It would be very loose and woobly. It should be leeking out of the front of the block. Trying bringing it to a jiffy lube that does a high pressure antifreeze treatment. They will be able to free up any flow obsrtuctions or tell you if you need a new thermostat.

Sensors went bad, at 60 k miles, is this covered in warranty

you need to take the vehicle to a real mechanic. Jiffy lube employes are not mechanics. Change your oil at jiffy lube and get mechanical work done at a reputable auto dealer or mechanic shop.

YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD. ALSO, YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW. THE PLASTIC INTAKE CRACKS CAUSING AN INTERNAL COOLANT LEAK. YOU CAN RESEARCH THIS ON LINE.

Coolant Warning Light

Some models have a bleeder valve located on or near the thermostat. Not all manuals will show this vital component. If yours has one( if your coolant recovery bottle is above highest point of radiator you do) you need to bleed the air out of your cooling system. Do this by opening the valve until coolant comes out. Do this a couple of times as your car is getting to operating temp. should solve your problem.
