Quick Question on MINI break-in period bmw

My girlfriend just bought a BRG Cooper and we were wondering how much steady state highway driving can be done?
The manual says to vary speeds up to 1250 miles, and we would do that but were planning on taking it onto a trip of 350 miles. Our thoughts were to go from 65-80ish back and forth throughout the trip, is this okay?
Also, what do you guys think about the oil change intervals? 10,000 miles and 15,000 miles seem a bit excessive to me. Also, does the MINI burn much oil? How often should she check it?
Thanks in advance.

When I picked up my car. the very next day I went on a 800+ mile trip. During the trip, I made a mental note to vary my speeds between 50 and 90 and do frequent gear changes to keep the RPMs moving around... did my best to simulate city driving.

The oil change intervals are based upon your driving conditions. depending on which oil they use, it should be fine. My oil was drained in my car at 11k miles and it turned out to be in good condition.

It's the rear parcel window shelf.
If you want a new one, you can buy it from: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do just fill out the information (R50 if you have a Cooper, R53 if you have a Cooper S) then do a search on shelf (you will need to buy shelf and cords)
If you don't mind a used shelf, you can search on your local MINI forums, northamericanmotoring.com or ebay.
