SOURCE: when the traction control light

sounds like your alternator is not giving out the correct voltage or isnt giving out any voltage. computers need the correct voltage to work properly. if your alternator is bad and your battery gets drained then that could make the computer give funny codes and make it run rough. the simple test is to unplug your positive battery cable after you start the car and see if the car still runs. if it does then the alternator is working. if you have a volt meter you can make sure that the alternator is giving out between 12 and 15 volts.

Headlight and parking lights are different

Only way it would work is to do the 01 conversion by switching the whole doghouse (fenders, hood, bumper, lights, etc.) It can be done though.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, service light came on

I would check the voltage at the battery while the engine is running. If over 15 volts , your voltage regulator is shot , and your headlights cooked.

If that is problem , alternator will have to be replaced.

Look where your throttle cables etc are attached at throttle body, it should be at opposite end of the shaft that operates throttle plate in front of throttle body opening. Usually held on with Torx screws

Where to find the traction control switch on a 2001 chevy cavalier

Doesn't have one ! The electronic brake control module turns it on an off when there is a problem ! Your light on ? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored .
Traction Off
The IPC illuminates the traction off indicator when the following occurs:
• The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The traction control system is disabled when the following occurs:
- For Chevrolet only, the shift lever is in FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) gear. The EBCM receives a class 2 message from the powertrain control module (PCM) indicating the gear position.
- For Pontiac and Oldsmobile only, the body control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch is pressed (signal circuit is low). The EBCM receives a class 2 message from the BCM indicating the switch status.
- The BCM detects that the park brake is engaged (signal circuit is low) and that the engine is on. The EBCM receives a class 2 message from the BCM indicating the park brake status.
- The PCM detects certain malfunctions and is unable to perform torque reduction requests from the EBCM. The EBCM receives a class 2 message from the PCM indicating that traction control cannot be performed.
• The EBCM detects a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives class 2 messages from the EBCM requesting illumination of both the service vehicle soon and traction off indicators.
• The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds.

Both tha abs and traction control dash lights are on in my 2001 cavalier .what could possibly cause this problem

They are very prone to faulty front wheel speed sensors, causing the ABS light to come on. They are part of the wheel bearing and come as an assembly. You will need to scan the car to see which one is faulty.

Trac light came on. what does that mean?

trac light goes on when the wheel speed sensor is not giving the traction control computer adequate data, or the traction control computer is bad itself.

Could also be a wire between the traction control module and the sensor.

Did the ABS light go on as well?

What does it mean, when alight, on your dash is saying "trac off"

If that is the only light, then your traction control system is turned off. If you are unable to turn it on or the ABS light is on as well, then you have a system fault in your traction control and the system is turned off.

Traction control warning light and service light came on on my 2001 cavalier but the car still drove fine...what could be the cause for this?

Probably one of the wheel speed sensors went bad. As long as you don't drive like a maniac, you'll be safe. But get it checked out.

Hello, my 2001 chevy cavielier, has a low trac light on? What is this all about?

that is your traction control, it is telling you that it is off, meaning if you floor it the tirse will spin (burn out) there should be a button I do believe is in the glove compartment to turn it back on, when you turn it back on when you floor it the tires won't spin.
