Question about 2001 Ford Windstar

I am trying to remove the top idler pully on a 2001 windstar. I can get it loose but can't remove it for replacement. Any ideas without removing the to part of the motor?

Hi, this is due to rust and taperd fitting. needs sprey penertrating oil and hitting gently with SOFT COPPER hammer. it may have a woodrofe key. these stop pulleys turning on the shaft. DO NOT LEVER OFF AS THIS CAN DAMAGE THE TIMING CASE. somtimes if it moves forward a little SPREY PENERTRATING OIL and hit it back ON. this cleans the rust out of the way. then SPREY MORE PENERTRATING OIL AGAIN and hit it with an hammer. it will take about 2 hours. when you take off the pulley clean the shaft with emery paper (like sand paper). gerry

My wife's ungo remote start in her 2001 ford windstar is not starting the engine and van has been showing random electrical problems. Any ideas anyone?

did u replace batteries? if so did u install them correctly

random electrical problem could be a bad ground wire. remove - negative battery cable (usually the black one) clean connection make sure both ends are clean & tight. A loose or dirty ground will cause problems. while ur at it check all connections u can for loose or dirty connections

Replace idler pully on 92 Nissan. Pathfinder 4~4

Looks like there is an idler pulley for the ac belt. The alternator and ps belts are adjusted by moving the components.
The pulley is available without the bracket, so you should be able to loosen the center bolt without removing the bracket. There is an adjusting bolt or rod that you turn to tighten or loosen the belt once you have loosened the bolts for the bracket.

When thr suv is on idle a scratchy noise from were the belt is at ??

It sounds like you have a bearing going in one of the idler pully's or the Alternator. hard to pick which one would be best to take to shop & have them check with a stethascope.

How to replace power steering belt on 97 nissan maxima

to take it off get a 3/4 rachet and it fits into the tens. pully. push it down and the belt will come loose make sure you hold it. with the other hand remove it off of any pully normaly the idler pully will be best one to use then when you have it off that pully slowly easy up on the rachet and remove so you can take the belt off. then you will see a pic of how the belt should look when you replace the new one and remember how it looked before always helps too

I have a rattling sound up towards my belts. kinda sonds like a ceased barring. near my alternator

The best way to find the noise is to remove the belt
and check each pully by hand. If a pully locks up it
will make more of a screeching sound. A rattle sound makes me think your idler pully is loose.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Power Steering Pump

you need an 18mm crows foot wrench 12" 3/8 extention N ratchet N 10mm socket. remove the belt, use crows foot to remove the pressure line, remove other tubes, remove 4 10mm bolts and pluck the pump out, go to autozone or some large chain auto parts store and buy a pully remover/installer use it then bring it back,( they have a loaner program) without the puller you will never get the pully off.

1998 Saturn SL idler pulley broke off and bolt is stuck in engine

The idler pully can be removed without removing the engine. I have replaced mine in my 97 SL2. As to the bolt breaking off, that is strange. I assume that if the bolt broke off, then the idler pully also fell off. If I remember, the space is somewhat limited, so getting a removal tool in there could be very difficult, especially if the bolt is flush with the mounting hole. That doesn't sound like a fun project. If bolt protrudes, maybe you can get some vise-grips on it and turn it out.
