Question about 2002 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

I replaced the EGR Value because the error code indicated and said EGR Value insufficient flow. The engine light went off for about a week and came back on. I replaced the EGR valve with another new one thinking the first one was defective but the engine light did not go out. I noticed that when I increase a vehicle's engine speed by pressing down on the gas pedal or advancing the throttle while the vehicle is stationary it misfires. Please advise.

How does it run under a load ?IN DRIVE WITH THE BRAKES ON AND ABOUT 1/2 THROTTLE? Better or worse? Do you have a hole in the muffler or any bad exhaust leaks?

Checkengine light on replaced the egr and code still saying egr insufficient flow

It is most likely the DPFE sensor. Follow the EGR tube from the EGR vlave. You should see two rubber hoses attached. At the other end of those hoses is the DPFE sensor.

Typically you would read the value of the sensor with a scan tool.

EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT

On your EGR tube you have two hoses coming off of it. If you put them on in reverse you will get a code of insufficient flow. I put headers on and replaced EGR tube and valve and the flow sensor and that's the code that I received switched the hoses and solved the code

Check engine light came on 1996 acura slx code reads p0401

Code P0401 indicates insufficient EGR flow. It's quite common on this model. The solution involves removing the upper intake manifold and cleaning the EGR passage.

FAILED EMISSIONS TEST P0401&P0420 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESETED MANY TIMES WHEN CUT OFF ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AFTER 5-6 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED EGR VALVE .STILL WA\ONT PASS INSPECTION. WHATS NEXT?

P0401 indicates that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected. This can be because EGR is faulty . As you have replaced this then the problem must be with the vacuum line . EGR valve vacuum line which can be broken or blocked. The vacumn ine must bbe checked for leaks or any blocks using an vacumn pump connected the line.

P0420 indicates that the down stream oxygen sensor reading is not steady and it is connected with the code P0401.

1999 plynouth grand voyager was coding egr replace

just because the check engine light is back on, it doesn't necessarily mean it is for the same problem. it could be, but would need to pull codes again to find out what its for. literally hundreds of different codes could turn on check engine light. also, was original code for "insufficient egr flow" or "excessive egr flow"? it makes a difference.

I replaced the egr valve and the check engine light is still on so what do I do the code still says p0401

When you replaced the EGR valve did you check the EGR passage to make sure it wasn't clogged. Since exhaust gasses flow through the EGR passage carbon builds up on the walls restricting flow which can eventually lead to the code p0401 Insufficient EGR flow.

I am having trouble getting my check light to go off after I had it checked and the EGR valve was replaced. The light comes back on after about 15 miles of driving and the code reads EGR poor flow. I can...

Insufficient EGR Flow Detected

Possible Causes:
DPFE sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground
DPFE sensor VREF circuit is open between sensor and PCM
DPFE sensor downstream hose off or plugged
DPFE sensor hoses both off, loose or damaged
DPFE sensor hoses connected wrong (reversed)
EGR orifice tube is damaged or restricted
PCM has failed
And what sets the code is…….Engine started, engine running in closed loop under steady cruise conditions, and the PCM detected the DPFE sensor input indicated insufficient EGR gas flow. Run the KOER Self-Test, and if DTC P1408 is present, the fault is currently present. This code sets in 2 Trip(s). The light will stay on until the cause is repaired. A bad EGR valve is only on possible cause.

Hope this helps,

Dave

I'm getting an engine check light, the OBD-II is P0401.

try to clean out the tubes, it is very common for the tubes to get clogged up with carbon, also check for any breaks in the vacuum lines
