Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hello, I removed the 3 bolts from the back of the spindle and spraid it w/ a good penatrating oil ,but still I cant get the wheel bearing off . Any help would be apresheated .Thanks George.

Control arm removal


Take the wheel off, secure strut to lower frame with a strong piece of rope, place a jack under the sway bar, jack up slightly, that will hold the strut from lowering anymore via the link from the sway arm to the strut (reason for the rope securing the strut is it will swing out towards you when the lower control arm is removed), saturate all the bolts with a good penatrating oil [Liquid Wrench = Good Stuff] remove the nut from the lower ball joint stud, spray on more penatrating oil where stud goes through spindle, hit the spindle with a good size hammer where the ball joint stud goes through the spindle (always hit what it goes through), give it several hard sharp raps from the sides, then hit downward on the lower control arm with hammer, most of the time the stud will come right out, if not, put nut back on ball joint stud just until the stud is flush with the top of the nut, since you can not hit directly on the top of stud, get a good sized wrench to go across the stud and hit downward on either side of the wrench, holding other end with your other hand, if the ball joint does not come out now, hit the spindle from the sides some more HARD, then hit downward on control arm, if it still does not come loose you will have to get (or rent) a spreader (Pickle Fork) to separate the ball joint from the spindle, then remove the two bolts from the lower frame, slide lower control arm out.

2007 toyota tacoma replace front wheel bearing prerunner


The other guys have never taken the wheel bearings out of a 2007 Tacoma! Remove the tire (duh)
Remove the 12mm bolt holding the brake line securing bracket
Un-clip the air sensor hose clip
Remove the two 17mm bolts holding the brake assembly on the back side
Remove the rotor from the wheel "spindle"- slides right off.
Unscrew the four metric bolts (maybe 17mm) holding the wheel housing to its mount (they cannot be removed from the assembly yet, see below).
That's right there is no normal wheel spindle with a big nut on the end of a threaded shaft in the middle!
The wheel mounting plate (with the 6 studs) is pressed into the bearing housing.
Get a replacement bearing assembly and take it and your old unit to a machine shop (unless you have a good press).
An easy job, just expensive- $140 for the bearing assembly.

Remove the wheel then remove the brake caliper and rotor, remove nut from lower balljoint split balljoint and control apart,remove the cv nut from axle then pull spindle back and slide cv shaft out of spindle,next on the rear of the spindle remove the bolts that hold bearing to spindle then use a hammer to tap bearing out of spindle here a picture to help you locate the bolts on the spindle and to see what it looks like,984d3b5.jpg

How do you replace the front rotors on a 1996 honda accord?


Remove wheel. Take off outer driveshaft nut. Remove lower ball joint pinch bolt & separate ball joint from spindle. Pull rotor & spindle out & away to pull driveshaft outer splined end out of rotor center hub. Look on the back of the spindle for the 4 bolts that hold in the wheel bearing. Use a 12 point socket to remove the 4 bolts and remove wheel bearing from spindle (out towards the wheel stud side). Probably will have to use a air chisel to get it out. Once it's out undo the 4 bolts on the outer (wheel stud side) of the rotor and remove the rotor from the hub. Clean & lube the hole where the bearing was in the spindle & the inner face of the hub. MAKE SURE IT'S CLEAN otherwise you may get a pulsation on braking if theres a piece of rust or dirt between the rotor center & the hub face. Reverse procedure to install.

If the rear bolts don't come out then you will have to use a slide hammer to separate the bearing to replace the rotor and there is a very good chance you will need to replace the wheel bearing after you're done (noisy on road test).


Not the job to do at home, usually an easy 2-3 hours per side if things go bad (book time is 2.2 hrs per side). Use good quality rotors as you don't want to have to do it again because a cheap rotor gave you a pulsation.

Need to replace wheel bearing hub kit on 2000 s-10 2wd. is it a kit or just a bearing? What are the steps?


The bearing is "pressed" into the hub/spindle. On the 4x4 model the wheel hub is bolted onto the spindle from the back (remove wheel, caliper and bracket, axle nut, 3 bolts on the back and tap out). On the 2 wd model, It'll have to be pressed out, and back in. Remove the wheel, caliper and bracket. Follow the ABS sensor wire to the inner frame rail in the engine compartment and unplug it (along with removing the bolted clip on the upper "A" frame). Separate the tie rod end, upper and lower ball joints (won't affect the alignment) and remove the spindle. If you can locate a used one you can have it ready to put back in immediately.

no its a bolt on, must remove wheel brake caliper and its braket then brake rotor, look at back of spindle you will see 3 bolts ,remove them and hit frt of hub until it comes out . good luck.

Cant remove wheel bearing assembly from the spindle 1996 chevy


check the front of the hub assembly, just to double check and see if there is a cap on it with a crown nut behind it. It should not be stuck to the spindle at all and this is the most likely cause. If there is a crown nut there, there will be a cotter pin you have to remove to take the nut off.

How to change wheel bearings on a 96 cavalier


The wheel bearings on your car is contained in a sealed wheel hub. You have to change the whole hub to change the bearing. Remove the wheel, the brake caliper, the rotor. There will be three bolts holding the hub on from the back. You will need to remove these bolts and slide the hub off of the spindle. then grease the spindle slide on your new hub and bolt everything back together.

How do you adjust 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee front wheel bearings?


1) Jack up the front of the truck ( or the affected side).
2) Remove the wheel.
3) Remove the brake caliper, pads, and rotor.
4) Remove the axle nut. I use a 36mm socket.
5) Remove the three hub bolts (from the back of the spindle) ea.:
5a) You will need a 1/2 12 point inch ratcheting box wrench and larger
box wrench as I use or a 1/2 inch 12 pt. socket and ratchet with
long handle for rich folks who can afford such luxuries.
5b) Force the bolt to loosen 1/4 turn, then retighten. Spray the threads
with penetrating oil, then loosen as far as it will go (not much) easily.
Now curse about Mopar and rust. Ask a sailor for help if needed. Wire wheel or
5c) Go to 5b) until the bolt is out.
6) Use a sharp chisel and hammer to draw the hub bearing out of the spindle. Try not to use the chisel near the bolt holes.
7) Use a sanding disc remove any burrs from the hub mating surface of
the spindle.
8) Use wheel bearing greasre or moly grease to coat the splines of the
axle, the big hole in the spindle, and the threads of the bolts.
9) Put it all together.
10) If you got lazy and didn't do step #7, get a wheel alignment, then
drive for about 5k miles, repeat steps 1-9, then get a wheel
alignment again.

Mazda 1991 front right wheel bearing removel


The stud cover is the hub and you cant get it out because its pressed into the wheel bearing that it attached to the spindle,you can rent a slide hammer that bolts up to the hub and slam away,but you have to have it pressed back in. so remove the spindle mark strut holddown bolts so your alingment isnt too far off.hope this helps let me know if you need more info or diagrams have a good day DB
