Your fuel pump has a torn diaphram and is leaking fuel into the engine. Replace fuel pump.

  • To replace a mechanical fuel pump, remove the inlet and outlet lines at the pump.
  • Use a plug to stop the flow of fuel from the tank.
  • With the correct size socket wrench, remove mounting bolts. Then, remove the pump from the engine.
  • Clean the old gasket material from the engine block.
  • Apply gasket sealer to the mounting surface on the engine and to the threads of the mounting bolts.
  • Install the new gasket, then position the pump by tilting it either toward or away from the block to correctly place the lever against the cam.
  • If the pump is driven by a pushrod, the rod must be held up to permit the rocker arm to go under it.
  • When the pump is properly positioned, there should be an internal squeaking noise with each movement of the pump.
  • Tighten the mounting bolts firmly.
  • Attach the inlet and outlet lines, start the engine, and then check for leaks.

91 olds toronado won't start battery has full charge.key may need programmed?

Only reprogram if you know it needs programming otherwise you are wasting your money. Take the key to a main dealer and ask them if the programming is still working as you are having trouble starting your car.

They should be able to tell you if it needs programming or not.

My honda accord ex 91 is running exellent since i changed the ignition wires and spurk plugs. it has 107,000 miles, manual transmision. for more power and gas saving, what kind oil motor and gas should i...

With that many miles there is no point in putting synthetic oil in the engine because it will probably be too thin and cause the seals to start leaking. Keep the oil changed regularly (every 3000 miles) and use a brand name 5W-30 grade oil like Mobil1 or castrol. As far as gas goes I would put a tank of high octane gas in about once a month. You can try using high octane all the time but check your mileage per tank on the regular grade and then after you've filled you car about 4-5 times with high grade so you can see if it really is making a difference. Also check your owners manual to see if it recommends higher grade gasoline.

Blue smoke (how many miles on engine, 50k or 500K???????
to some this means, burning oil, others steam
it that blue smoke lingers a long time that is oil burning
and smells just like oil burning.
    and means 2 things,
    1: engine burns oil.
2: if car had autotmatic trans the vacuum modulator love fail
and suck ATF fluid to the intake plenum and burn it, and bingo burning oil like mad.
3: PCV valve packed solid, and forces engine to leak oil or burn oil. or both. this is a 50k miles service point, skipping this?
4: gas in the oil making it thin and not sneaks past valve stems.
    does oil change cure this.>?

    now engines.
worn out engines smoke. (burn oil)
as do bad valve guides and seals.
    and bad piston rings.
100 years same story, and miles matter. History on engine too.

87 Olds Toronado Will NOT pop off just turns over????

Sounds like you have many more than just one problem. It really doesn't pay to throw a bunch of parts at a problem and hope it's fixed. The climate control head display shutting of and coming back on at 75 degrees is most likely due to a bad Central Power Module, a common problem in older Toronados. Hard to find, not too hard to replace. It's under the dash to the left of the steering column. The no spark problem could be any of several things. Did you check for good cam and crank sensor signals? Do you have spark at the plugs? Have you changed your plugs wires? Do you have any stored codes? If the console says there is an electrical problem, you can be assured that there is indeed an electrical problem somewhere. It may not have been severe enough to cause a concern for the past seven years, but it may be worth taking a look now to see if has anything to do with what going on. Replacing the oil pressure sensor is easy enough and inexpensive enough as a first attempt to fix the gauge readings acting funny.

Since it is an older vehicle, check under the dash for any "rigging" that might have been done over the years. Start at the battery and follow all electrical wires that lead into the dashboard and fuse panels and check for any frayed or split lines that might be causing you to have a short circuit somewhere. that's what it sounds like to me. Unless you have a huge sound system with some 15" woofers in the trunk you shouldn't be experiencing any power shortages.

I want to SeaFoam my 2000 Chevy Silverado, How much SeaFoam goes in the gas tank and ind the brake hose or oil tank?

DO NOT USE SEAFOAM IN BRAKE RESIVOIR!!!!! That being said it can go into the gas tank and the oil. Use 1 can of Seafoam in the gas tank. If you are going to change the oil soon you can use 1/2 to 3/4 of a can in the oil. Make sure to change the oil in less than 100 miles. Seafoam thins out the oil and if it is in too long can cause some parts to not get oiled enough. Good Luck!

I have what appears to be a oil and fuel leak. 1988 olds toronado

    1. Check the oil (with dipstick) see if it smells the same as the oil spot you were detecting.

    2. Fuel leaks are usually accompanied by a strong odor of fuel and time the vehicle is running.

I will guess that this car has quite a few miles on it. Having the gas ending up in the oil a bit is normal for high miles engines. As they get older they should be changed more often to keep this from happening.

As for the oil leak, only a visual inspection can determine the leak source. I would bet on a seal.

This happens as the motor wears. You have a 94 and I will assume your miles are over 150,000 (we drive them because we love them). I would start with a fresh oil change and check this again to see if it is just happening sooner now because of the mile son the vehicle. The truth is that as they get older they need more frequent oil changes. I would not allow it to stay with gas in the oil for very long as this can cause premature bearing failure and excessive wear.
