Exhaust had rusted out so I straight piped it, and put a boom tube off a truck on it. That was probably the best thing that I did - it sounds mean. The seats are wearing out. Carburetor needed adjustments.

Thinking of buying a 1985 buick skylark, are there any problems with this car or year?

Depends on your definition of problems. Nothing big as far as I remember, but there could be problems with a 28 yr old car if it has been parked for a long time. I would not expect it to be a daily driver.

Head lamp harness

No - the worst electrical problem that the headlamp harness could cause is to short itself to ground somehow (bare wire, unplugged & turned on, etc), which would blow the headlight fuse.
However, dashboard problems can cause headlight problems, since the headlight switch is located in the dash.
The common point between the headlight problems, dashboard problems, and "electrical problems" would be the under-dash wiring and/or wiring harness from ECC (Engine Control Computer, aka "the car's computer) to the dashboard - check here first for grounding/shorting problems, or water leaking out of the in-dash vents onto a wiring harness.

Fuse problems are the cause of many strange problems with your car, here are a few fuse problem solutions. If you are suffering from No power to radio, cigarette lighter, here is your solution, another FixYa solution about power problems, that will prove helpful is here. For Remote control or key fob problems this solution should do the trick. For dash light illuminating this solution might give you a clue.

Fuse problems - can be replaced by you quickly, easily, and with little to no dirty hands, & most important of all can save you money. Good luck with your fuse problems, hope this thread helped you, if you find new, or better solutions please post them here.

The car fuse box is usually found in one of two places: usually near the bottom of your dashboard as you move closer to the foot well or, on some models, under the hood. If you are having trouble finding the car fuse box, have a look at your car manual.

Good luck.
