Hi,

Open your glove box 1/2 way, hold the sides in to open it all the way and slide it out. You will see the resistor bolted to the hvac housing behind the glove box. Has a 5 wire harness going to it. It is held by two 5/16 bolts.

This is probably a faulty resistor.

To purchase this, i always prefer to get them right from the dealer. Any dodge / chrysler / jeep dealer have plenty of them in stock.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The low/med/high fan switch on my 1985 Toyota pickup is no longer working, How do I replace the heater fan blower switch?

Hi,
Don't go there just yet ! Most heater motor speed problems relate to the heater resistor ! It's located in the ducting close to the motor assy and usually has 4/5 wires on to it and a 2 screw fixing. This componant must be cooled (hence air duct location) and is solely responsible for motor speeds ! You can check motor fan by test lamp/meter ! Good Luck

Hi it sounds like the heater fan is faultly or failing they can work intermitently and then not at al, do check your fuses though as a melted fuse may still work.

Let meknow if you need more info

for the fan blower motor it could be the resistor or the fan control speed control switch is bad.for no lights replace the DRL RELAY for the lights. for the heated seats check the fuses.

Freelander heater switch 1997

the fan works at different speeds by switching to a different resister for the given speed. A common fault is the resister pack has a thermal overload/cutout which over time corrosion sets in and it breaks down. When you find the pack [normally under bonnet and in the motor cowling ]although not necessarily, you will see agroup of wires 4/5 remove the pack locate the thermal cutout ,bridge it and test ,if the fan works on all speeds #replace the unit# , we don't want a fire do we??. the information that i have supplied is for general electrical principles , and unless your freelander has computor controlled heating the principles will be the same. if it is computor controlled it could get expensive .Good luck i hope that i have helped in some way. Pat.
