These cooloing systems are a pain , the easiest and proper way to refill these is to have a cooling system bleeder kit and do it that way , if not available you will have to jack the front of the vehicle up when refilling , this will allow the air buble that gets trapped in the engine block to escape , after filler run for about 20 min and watch the temp guage , if it overheats you must let cool and do again , hope this helps

5w30 or 5w30, either one. It is critical that you put 5w30 in it to ensure proper operating of the vanos. doesn't matter synthetic or mineral.

If you've never replaced the timing belt or chain,That would be my first thing I'd check is the Timing belt or chai, just aline the timing marks on crankshaft and then look at the position on the distributor to see if it's pointed in the #1 firing position .

Changing a radiator on a 1999 bmw 528i

not too difficult just make sure you bleed the system properly. two bleeder screws. one near the thermostat housing and one at the expansion tank(where you would fill the coolant) i would recommend replacing both bleeder screw and don't lose the four rubber pieces that are used to mount the radiator properly(can reuse the old ones)
