My Vue has a faulty fuel gauge and the dealer has been telling me the part has been on order for some months. He says he thinks a new part is being developed. In the meantime, it's a real pain not having a reliable gauge... shows somewhere between half a tank and empty all the time. Anyone else with this problem? If so are you getting the same story?
BTW, the dealer says if I use a lower sulphur gas (apparently Sunoco) rather than Shell, it will improve a bit. Sounds fishy to me but I haven't had a chance to test this suggestion yet.
yes i have the same problem about my saturn vue also. people keep stealing my gas in my vue and it is real pain in the gas tank. i dont want to take the time to drop the tank to replace the gauge.
I have a 2004 Saturn vue also. It had a fuel gauge that worked decent but once in a while it would not be correct. They recently replaced some chips in the computer and then now the fuel gauge doesn't work at all. They recommened that I get the Sender unit replaced? They told me they would charge me 700 dollars. What should I do

my gas gauge broke in 2004 and the dealer ship fixed it. doesnt work as well as my odometer.. any thoughts...
just never listen to the dealership, they told me that they drove my 2006 65 miles and couldn't get it to duplicate the stalling between 2nd and 3rd, nor did the gas gage malfunction, or the rpm gage which sometimes would not even raise up when your rolling on down the highway with your foot in it. Well it just cost them another cash sale on a $27,000.00 slightly used SATURN SKY. I write my mileage down because I like to know the distance between my house and each client's home. I knew what the mileage was on the Vue when I pulled it into the service bay...it had 3 more miles on it when I got it back, so how did they drive it 65 miles? I wanted to buy the sky just to drive during the summer and to the mountians and keep my Vue, but since they lied they lost at a time when you can't give a car away.

techron fuel injector cleaner (chevron pro-gard with techron) from auto parts store. about $10. sure, if you've got a warranty or $800, replacing the sender unit is a great option. if not, just use this stuff every 6 months or year and it'll do the trick to get rid of the corrosion until you can afford to replace the sender unit.

I bought a 2003 VUE last November, and about five miles away from the lot the gas gauge died. I took it back in the next day and they replaced some valve and/or float in the gas tank which fixed the problem. They said it was a known defect.
They also suggested I try Mobil gas instead of the Costco gas I normally buy. I just filled up with Mobil Monday. We'll see if it makes any difference.

I never trust the gauges anyway, as they tend to lie quite a bit.
Keeping track of mileage with the trip odometer is fairly easy, and gives you the added bonus of knowing your mileage, so if it suddenly drops drastically, you'll know something is up.
My 97SC2 gets about 26-36 mpg, depending on the type of driving I'm doing.

I had the same problem with my 2002 VUE purchased in Jan. 2002. In this part of Washington state there is a winter blend of gas. Apparently the fuel sending unit corrodes in the gas. I had no problem with the dealership, they said it was a known problem and fixed it with a "redesigned" sender. That was over a year ago and no problem since.
