Question about 2003 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla CE. It has an automatic transmission.I had been having problems. My check engine light came on. Took it to the shop and did a computer analysis. It came up as shift selanoid. When got in there it was 3 different selanoids that needed to be replaced. There was all sorts of crud at the bottom and needed to be serviced. I was trying to find out if I was getting a fair price.

Generally if the guy doing the job took the time to show you the s..t in the pan while it was down replacing 3 solenoids would have saved you taking the thing apart again so whatever!!!!

i don't know the cost to fix, you can drive it with a converter lock up out of overdrive but the RPM will be higher and you will lose fuel efficiency, if you drive over 60 you chance overheating.

Hi Team, Good Afternoon. I purchased a 2005 Toyota Corolla 1 month ago (Used Car). As soon as I got the car I got the check Engine light. I took the car to Toyota of Irving and they told me that it was...

Did you buy this from a dealer? if so, you should have taken it back ASAP I dont know why you didnt have the Toyota Dealer fix the car, now your in the middle of a mess, getting 2 shops involved, and the car still has a problem. When you bought the car, whoever you bought it from, knew there was a problem, cleared the code and it took a while for the check engine light to come back on. So now you will just have to pay someont to fix the car. The trans shop told you it needed a converter and solenoid, the problem is still there, so make it their problem. I think you need someone who knows toyota . theres no recall that I know of. Recalls are free, anyhow. . ecm is warranteed 8 years or 80k miles. Have the dealer check it out. Have them Check Bulletin TC008-04 and T-SB-0378-08

Yes it's your transmission, have it checked at either a transmission shop or a automotive repair shop, unless you happen to know a mechanic.

2005 Toyota Corolla with 36,000 miles Transmission now "jumps" into gears

hi,
when the check engine light comes on, your car goes into a mode where instead of everything being normal, things are forced, to try and compensate for something else being wrong. It most likely does need a new timing belt, and a complete tuneup INCLUDING plugs and wires. we have a 1984 toyota corolla and it purrs like ground rice, I suggest the tuneup to continue proper rice production.

1996 Corolla Auto Transmission problem

Hi. 2005 Corolla CE. It's normal. They tend to do this when upshifting form 1st to 2nd gear. No timing chain readjustment needed.

96 Corolla. Overdrive not working properly, if not engaging after 45mph constantly. If driving on the city, is normal, but not after 45mph, when the car is trying to engage overdrive in order to save gas and preserve the trans gears. If not able to get help at the dealership, find another one and explain them the situation.
