SOURCE: Cabin Air Filter

on top of dash board on right side, pop center cover toward windsheld with plastic wedge and you will see 3 t20 torx screws, holding right cover on, pull gently and watch out for speaker wires (certain models) below that panel there are approx 6 t20 torx screws holding another black plastic cover on,
under that is the pollen filter, remove by relaesing tabs on back of holder and reassemble, for future note on right side of dash panel containes ECM and TCM, engine control module and transmission contorol module.

SOURCE: cabin air filter

Purchase a Purolator Cabin Filter for your Impala. It comes with complete instructions. The filter is located below the windshield, passenger side. The black plastic cover must be removed to access the filter. You simply raise the hood and remove 3 plastic clips, and the washer hose from it's holders. This will allow you to remove the plastic cover over the filter

SOURCE: How to change air conditioning filter chrysler crossfire 2005

I found a chrysler blog. Pull back carpet on passenger foot well, remove white styrofoam computer protector. Remove cardboard cover (remove two screws) from bottom of glove box. On Left side see a slot with plastic cover and two sliding latches. Open and remove and replace filter. Follow reverse to finish up. It is tight fit and hard to get to for normal sized man.

SOURCE: Engine Air Filter

The engine air filter is located in the box behind the battery. This box should have 4 metal clips that pop off and you and pick up the top of the box and underneath is the filter.

Clicking noise coming from the heater blower motor

if you car is equipped with cabin filter to filter the air entering the blower right, blower motor can be touching to sides of its housing since its bearing is broken.

if no cabin filter, probebly you have leaves or small pieces of wood coming from trees. those are touching to the surface of blades of fan inside blower motor housing.

I'm pretty sure that there is no electronic devices around the cabin filter. The only thing that might be making that noise is the little door that keeps the filter in place. Make sure its closed in properly

you have something stuck in the squirrel cage of the blower motor. All you need to do is drop the glove box open and look where the cabin air filter is,remove the cabin air filter and reach down there and pull the stuff out;its usually a leaf or napkin.

Almost no air comes from the ac vents but fan is on high. This happens on auto and also on econ.

The 1992 was prior to Buick putting cabin air filters in so there is not a possibility it is clogged. So more than likely your blower motor is going bad or your fan control switch is bad. Does this problem occur with heating as well as AC? Does it change if you switch between blowing on floor, face, window(defrost) If it doesnt change based on location of blow and type of air temp then I would start by turning fan on high and placing head (ear ) against dash in center of console area. Have someone turn fan knob from low to high with engine OFF...After goign from low to high and back a few times you can see if the blower motor is responding to signal from switch. Listen for a whine, squeal, rattle, or humm. A whine or Humm would indicate a bad blower motor... Squeal or rattle a bad squirrel cage/fan blower blades. If you hear no noise and no perceivable change in blower speed/noise then its possible your switch is bad. Unfortunately the only way to definitely diagnose either is to pull the switch from dash and use multimeter to test for voltage change and for blower motor to pull dash. There is a digital control unit for your car as well. Although rare sometimes the wires on this can loosen or it can go bad. But since you didnt state teh fan wasnt working at all and you are getting cool air, that woudl be teh last thing to check

Certain smell is coming out from the air vent everytime i open the A/C.

cabin air filter is inside a compartment behind your glove box. pretty simple to fix if you can figure out how to take off your glove box door. the filter is little different than the air filter, thinner. May help to spray some Frigi-freeze or Fridgi-Fresh stuff on it to help kill bacteria. an auto parts store should have some for the a/c system.
