For reasons unknown, both my keyless entry fobs no longer lock or unlock the car. Since they both failed simultaneously, I'm assuming the problem is in the car and not just a dead battery in the fob. Anyone know how this works? Anyone familiar with the system that knows an easy problem/fix, or must I be off to the dealer with a roll of cash?
My problem is my keyless entry key will unlock and lock doors once I've manually unlocked driver's door. But it won't otherwise. I've changed batteries, but not change. It will lock and unlock over and over again once I've manually unlocked door and inside, but once I shut the door I can lock, but will not unlock again until I use manual key. I've tried reprogramming, but doesn't work.

I replaced the batteries with no change. (I figured the chance of having two different fobs go dead on the same day was zero, but someone insisted.) The dealer quoted me $37.50 to reprogram the car. It took 15 seconds, and he let me go at no charge, so life is good again. They don't know why they deprogram either. Ain't computers wonderful!

Why not just do as the manual says to when programming new Key Fobs? I've done the procedure in my PT, according to the directions in the manual, to try to get a third Fob working from another car. The car even gives audible feedback when it hears a new, valid Fob. Unfortunately, the third one I had was intended for an Intrepid, and thus wouldn't work.
My point is - why ask the dealer to do something that your own manual can guide you through in less than 60 seconds?

Ok, I was a little off of your meaning. But the assumption the OP was going on is that the FOB had malfunctioned, BUT he/she also assumed that the dealer could fix it. Maybe, following your suggestion, it could be fixed by the operator (unless he swapped with the wife's intrepid FOB!) - RM
