Back brake light does not come on when brakes are applied, but the light bulb is still operational because the turn signal light works when the signal is turned on.

Hi, first check the stop light fuse. If that is good, the problem is usually the brake switch above the pedal, but sometimes it is the relay. Check the switch first by pulling the connector off the switch and connecting the terminals inside the connector using a large paper clip. If that turns the lights on, replace the switch. If shorting the brake switch connector does not turn the lights on, reconnect the switch and try swapping the stop light relay with another similar relay, such as the horn or A/C relay.
Note: if you have cruise control, the brake switch connector will have 4 terminals. In this case, try connecting every combination of 2 terminals at a time to see if the lights will come on.
The fuse and relay are probably in one or the other boxes under the hood. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

My brake lights will not go off when I turn the car off

Check brake light switch above brake pedal. Pull the connector off the switch. If the lights go out, replace the switch. If not, try pulling the brake pedal relay out of it's socket. The lights should go out. Take out another similar relay and push it in the stop light relay socket. If this fixes the problem, buy a new relay.

My brake lights stay on while my car is turned off, which is killing my battery..How do I fix that?

It is most likely the brake light switch on the brake pedal, sometimes, not always, you can tell by pulling up on the brake pedal with your hand.

Im trying to fix my turning signals light what could stop them from working?

Hello...

A couple of things could stop them from working. A relay, called a flasher could be bad... The turn signal switch assembly could be bad... Or a bulb or wiring could be bad....

Good Luck

Im looking for color of a brake wire

Hello heinz2127: My name is Roger and i will help you. The rear brake wires are green and yellow. They also are the turn signal wires. The brake lights work through the turn signal switch. The turn signal switch has logistics for determining which side is blinking so as to make the opposite side to show park brake light.Check the fuse box for a blown fuse. Look at the fuse box under the hood. Also try this. Turn on the four way flashers. Step on the brake pedal . The lights should stop flashing If not I would replace the turn signal switch.

Try having someone watch ur lights as you tilt the steering wheel in different positions and pressing on the brake in each tilt position. Sounds strange but the brake light go through teh wiring in the steering column. I drive with my wheel tilted higher than normal to keep BOTH brake lights working.

2002 chevrolet cavalier, my brake lights, front and rear turn signals and hazard lights are not working

Your Hazard switch is bad. There were a bunch that had faulty soldering connections, and would fail prematurely. This circuit also competes with the turn signals, and the brake lights. Replace the switch with an aftermarket replacement, and it should fix your issue.
