There should be a twist socket that goes into the metal housing. Untwist it by a quarter turn and pull it out. If it is the older style setup you may need to remove the entire brake light housing.

Need to replace the rear turn signal lamp, but can't find where to access it. How do I remove the light cover to replace lamp?

You'll need to remove the liner for the trunk to get to this lamp, which is mounted in a quarter-twist lamp socket which fits into the lens housing. The pieces of the trunk liner fit together one over the other... so look around for the hold-down nut on the side you need to service, then the liner pieces come out one over the other.

How to change tail and head lights on a 2000 Mercury Cougar

I do not know exactly how your car is setup, but usually there are only two ways to access the rear bulbs. One is inside from the trunk, there may be a small access port in the trunk liner behind the bulbs, you remove this access port and reach in to get at the bulb. The other, more difficult, open the trunk, look for a couple of screws near the tailights that look like they hold in the edge of the light housing and are hidden when you close the trunk. Remove those screws (maybe Torx style), and the you can pull out the tail light assembly from the body and change the bulbs from there.
This is just a very brief description.

How do you change rear brake light bulb in a Ford Focus

You will need to look in trunk and pull back the covering over the light area on the side you need to replace. Once exposed, look for the wires going into the light housing and twist the plug to unlock it and remove the bulb. Twist and remove the old bulb or Pull the bulb out of the socket. Reverse the process to install the new bulb and replace the socket.

Need to change brake light

Hi There;
Hey if you have access to the back of the lights you only need to grab the lowest socket that you can see, twist it counter clock wise & the pull the socket out of the light assembly.
It looks like you already moved the trunk liner away from the rear of the light assembly so the rest should work.

Hope this works

Change brake light 2000 lhs

The rear lenses can be removed by opening the trunk, remove the possible liner that covers the hex nuts on on the lamp housing behind the lens assembly and remove them, remove electrical connector and replace bulb.

How to access brake tail light to change

Tail light replacement is not as hard as it seems.
Tools needed:flat head screwdriver and a deep 5/32 socket(a pair of pliers will work).
Step 1: open trunk and pull back truck liner at tail light. There is a small button clip on liner.Use screwdriver to pop up the center of button clip, pull clip out of hole.
Step 2:You will see a black wire attached to the body of car with 2 white clips.Use screwdriver to pop clips off of studs.
Step 3:Remove the nuts from the studs and pull tail light assembly straight back away from car.The outer side of the light just snaps in and out of place.
Step 4:Turn light socket counter clockwise 1/3 turn and pull out.
Step 5:Pull bad bulb straight out and replace.Reverse steps to reassemble.

3rd brake light

This is how i did it on my 2006 Sonata

1.) unplug the connector in the trunk (its a small white plug running up to the third light, there should be a small clip you squeeze).

2.) remove the 2 gold-colored screws from inside the trunk. They can be seen from the trunk. 1 is thru the larger square opening where the wire connects to the 3rd brake light. The 2nd is on the right side thru a small (screwdriver width) hole covered by a piece of foam tape stuff I had to punch me screwdriver through the foam to get to it.

3.) after removing the 2 screws, go inside the cabin and the brake light housing pops up.

4.) disconnect the bulb from the housing while inside the cabin (I had to do this with me two forefingers since the housing only pops up and inch or two).

5.) in the trunk remove the wire and bulb. (it's about 5 inches long. the wire from the connector to the bulb socket)

6.) reverse steps to install.

It is a pain and reqiuires a bit of time only because there isn't a lot of room to move around, but it beats taking it to the dealershio!
