Hi the battery light being on means that the battery is not being charged properly by the alternator if you keep driving it with this light on then the battery will go flat and you will be stuck and need a tow.

the noise you hear is going to be the alternator due to the fact this is the warning light your getting so get the alternator replaced and that light will go off and the noise should also stop.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I have a 2002 mustang and it is making a squeaking noise and the battery light comes on. Both happen intermittently but I haven't had any change in the battery gauge. Do I need a new alternator?

the sound is either the alternator belt (as in way too loose), or bad bearings in the alternator and it seizes up intermittently and the belt screeches as it slides on the pulley. your gauge is telling you the amount of voltage at the battery, but the light is a charge indicator and it is pointing you to the alternator.

There is funny shape light in the dash board, "what does it mean?"

How would someone know what funny shape means

If you have no owners manual google dash board symbols

When you turn on the key you should see & know every
symbol on the dash
After the engine starts they all should be off or you got problems

2005 honda accord ex battery light is on?

Well the battery light is telling the driver the alternator is not charging the battery.
So the battery and alternator would need to be tested.
The noise could be the alternator ?

I have a 2004 ford focus battery light keeps going on and off dash lights go dim then bright I replaced alternator and battery 6 months ago any suggestions?

If this happening at any engine or vehicle speed, look for damaged wiring harnesses, expecially those that appear to be tight. Those runnig near an engine pulley, or over a pinch weld. and near steering components. Check engine ground cable to chassis, and check engine mounts for wear.

If no damage is found, does the light dimming correspond to the AC compressor engaging? You might have a failing AC bearing on the pulley. It would not hurt too release the serpentine belt to check the condition of the AC ulley bearing for noise, for excess radial play or other indication of pending failure such as difficulty in rotating the pulley.

If that checks out- load test the alternator (the regulator is part of it so it is tested at the same time)

The issue started with the radio cutting in and out or switching discs then progressed to the lights on the dash and driver area start flashing or stay on and the in dash display computer basically freaks...

Your problem sounds like varying voltage to me, like the voltage regulation is not functional. Have you had the alternator tested to make sure that the voltage/amperage is regulated at a constant level?

My 1997 Sentra makes a grinding noise in the drivebelt area when I am driving and when the vehicle idles. Also when I turn my A/C on, the battery light and check engine light come on. Is there a relation...

Noise, you should be able to narrow down to the
alternator bearings possibly

Also maybe a belt pulley

You fix yourself ?

What is the battery voltage with everything on & idling
Lights,doors open,a/c,blower

All,dash lights came on-gas,all,then power dies down,lights conitually go dim,car quits running,before this i heard a squealing noise,what is going on w/car

Could be a bad alternator diode and it wasn't keeping the battery fully charged, which could be indicated by dimming lights, loss of power, or completely quitting when voltage becomes too low to properly fire plugs.

The squealing could have been a locked up alternator (probably caused by a bad bearing) and the drive belt is slipping on the drive pulley, making the squeal.

Hope this is of some help.

My battery light indicator on dash board stays on

This is usually caused by a faulty alternator.
It stays on because the alternator is not generating sufficient voltage on the control winding to extinguish it.

Check battery terminal voltage while motor running with headlights on or blower fan running.
Terminal voltage should be approx 14.5V.
Ensure alternator and engine are properly connected to ground and the battery negative terminal.

Battery light is constantly on and battery went flat after radio and fan was on for long journey, could not start again except for jump start. charged the 2 batteries over nite and has kept charge for over...

the battery light is on to indicate to u that the cars alternator is not charging the battery, it doesn't mean the battery is bad, with no charge from the alternator the battery will quickly run flat.
