I have a 1998 chevrolet lumina and it is not starting. I have reoplaced the strater and ignition switch and when I turn the key I have nothing. The only way to get it to start is to jump the starter with a screw driver. when I changed the ignition switch I have power coming out of it and then nothing after that.

The key will not turn the car over

Have the ignition module checked. Had same problem & had to have ignition module replaced. Originally thought it was the resistor on the key.

Turned the key and the car did not start, car was not firing and no noise from the starter ... then turned the key and the car started ... went out for drive and came home ... turned the key again and...

Hmmm it could be the ignition itself, sometimes the inside parts wear out and do not engage as they should. The next indicatioin that its your ignition is the key will stick in it from time to time. Als, I know this sounds wacky, but when it wont start, put your foot on the brake, put the car in neutral and try to start the car. See if this works also.

I turn the key to start car and nothing, no sound no cracking nothing...except the lights

Does this car have an alarm system? Several models experience a similar issue. Have to leave the key in the on position for close to half an hour allowing vehicle to start. This is also provided that the key switch is functioning properly and the battery voltage is not low.
