Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Driving at 50 mph truck just stopped running has gas don't see any blown fueses swapped aroud relays nothing. Turns over fine. Code reader just says misfire.

how often does it do this? does the car sputter, **** and stall before turning off? it could be as simple as bad gas, water or condensation in gas tank, up to a blown head gasket. have a professional diagnose it with a check engine code reader, or have Auto Zone do it for free.

1991 camry , 4 cyl, just stalled while driving , turns over well but wont crank on , reliable car so far,


The timing belt may have gone out, or some other problem has occurred in the electronics of the engine control system. I suggest you start by running a fault code test on the computer control module. To do that go here and read instructions.

Wont start has new fuel pump and starter turns over fine going down the road and it spudders like it ran out of gas it just turns over not even trying to start


my 1988 towncar used to stop running on the open road at 70 mph after 20-25 miles of driving.......after sitting on the side for a 1/2 hr it was start right back up like nothing happened. After 2 frustrating weeks and 3 different mechanics I found out through another towncar owner that the ignition coil is getting hot and is causing the engine to shut off...Lo and behold 28.00 and 20 mins solved the problem. Just invest in a good Ignition coil from NAPA or SUMMIT PARTS

My 1998 isuzu trooper 3.5v-6..we ran out of gas, i put gas back in and now it will not start, it turns over just fine, also i have bled the fuel rail, the P.S.I. not bad, i got it to light off 1 time by...


This happened recently to my Handa Civic EX 98. It turns out when we run our cars very low on gas the fuel pump sucks the rest of the gas and the rest of the junk in the tank blocking the fuel filter and sometimes going through the pump and ruining the pump. But go with replacing the fuel filter first. This cleared my fiance's car i replaced the filter and it was fine.

My 2000 lincoln ls feels like it has a misfire while idling @ stops. excelerates fine until it hits between 40- 50 mph. then has same feeling of the misfire or low power. then once it reaches over 50 mph...


Buy one new coil from auto parts store $59.00

Walk it one cylinder at a time

Why would you swap coils,obviously one
of them is bad.

The one you took out of #5,find it ,and put in the
new one there.

I would put in new OEM Plugs.
They are a special tip just for the LS
at least on ones newer than yours
They are NGK even though they have motorcraft
on the ceramic shell.

Clean the throttle plate and MAF with the two
CRC products for that

I wouldn't rule out a bad EGR Valve as another issue,
though not related to the misfire issue

1997 astro misses at 50-60 mph with steady pedal pressure. when under acceleration runs fine. Also misses while passing through lower gears when starting from a stop.


This sounds like a partially blocked fuel injector. Easy fix is to run a bottle of STP or some other type of fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. You should see some improvement within 100 miles of driving. More costly but faster is take the car to a shop that cleans fuel injectors. Hope this helps

I have a 1997 Plymouth Breeze. And it was running great one day then all of a sudden while driving down the road it lost all power like it was out of gas, but it has a full tank. So I let it sit for a few...


First thing I would do is spray some ether in the air horn to see if it will fire. If not, you will have to do some alternate troubleshooting. (Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5821173-doesnt_car_start_gasoline_engines .) If yes, then you have verified the problem is fuel. The next thing I would do is swap the fuel pump relay with the horn relay. See if that fixes it. If yes, you just need a relay. If not, next I would replace the filter. It's cheap and easy and worth a try. The pump is expensive and hard to replace, so rule everything else out first. The relay is usually in the engine compartment relay box. I think I can see it in the pick below. The filter is near fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line. Let me know if you get stuck or have questions.

When i hook up a code reader the reader does not


there is a power to the 16th terminal which scanners use for power, check the fueses and you will most likley see one if blown

Check trans light comes on after a few blocks of driving


Go buy the repair manual for vehicle (about 20 bucks) AND a code reader.(between 50 and 300 bucks. Both specific to your vehicle AND vehicle year. Million reasons for check engine light - but that light is basically saying, "I'm seeing something wrong, so check my vehicle computer for what I'm seeing" and the fact that it goes away or may go away just says the problem may be intermittent or keeps being cleared for some reason, either the problem fixes itself or the computer clears code for some reason, probably the former.
