Question about 1996 Isuzu Rodeo

2 Answers

I have a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo. I just replaced the alternator. I have a voltage meter on the dash. When I start the Rodeo, it shows about 14 volts of power on the meter. When I am driving and accelerate, the voltage drops to about 8 volts and a warning light showing the battery and brake flash on. After about 15-20 seconds, the voltage will return to about 14 volts. I have found no loose connections. This makes this car very unrelyable.

Also the voltage regulator can be going out but I seriously doubt that. When they do go out they register no charge at all at 99 percent of the time

This may be caused by a bad Voltage Regulator in the alternator. It is quite possible that you have a faulty alternator. It seems that the regulator may be going in and out. I would have the alternator tested.

I have replaced the alternator twice so do not believe it is a bad regulator, I have two diodes in the fuse panel but cannot determine how to remove them.

typically replacing diodes involves soldering. You may have to remove the whole fuse panel to do this.

Could be the alternator .
A Battery store could test your car's battery and alternator to determine if the alternator is working correctly and that the cars battery is ok as well.

Charging problem. Have a 97 isuzu rodeo 2wd put new alt and battery in it and when I put a load on the volt meter drops to 12.7. At idle it's on 14 . Why is it doing this?

Because of the load. It will drop in voltage, this is normal. As long as it stays above 12 you will be fine. But just to be sure start the car and turn everything on, then check the voltage. If it stays at 12.7 it's good.

Isuzu rodeo 04 loss power on hills will not rev above 2000 revs have checked fuel supplie ok

Take your altenator to AutoZone and have it tested. If the voltage regulator is defective, you might notice your volt meter running up over 14 volts. The extra voltage messes with the electronic shift and your car stays in high gear instead of downshifting.

When the Jeep was new the volt meter read 14 the volt meter reads 13 volts with a one year old battery. Since the battery is a 12 volt battery should there be any concern that the volt meter...

It needs to be looked at,hook a volt meter to the battery, and start the engine, turn the ac on high blower, and the head lights on,the alternator should be putting out 13.65 volts to 14.25 volts,if it is any lower than this, replace the alternator, now,if the reading is not the same as in the vehicles volt meter, then the cables, positive and negative need to be replaced, the cables get old,and corrode on the inside and break down, they do not carry the current as they should.Shuold you decide to replace them,go with a larger diameter cable, both positive, and negative.

low voltage pulling by what your saying it sounds like your alternator is about to give up seeing that it cant disperse elec. to other units so its draining off the battery

change out the voltage regulator they didnt change your alternator they just rebuilt it or did nothing it sounds like

voltage regulator = adjusts the voltage
some are built on the alternator and is replaced at once with new alternator
others look like a little fin like an amp usually black in color this you will see bolted on the fender right or left this is a voltage regulator

somtimes you get a bad alternator in box when it can be new this is a chance chance cause now most parts are remand.
i still believe its your alternator you either of several things
got ripped off
got a bad alternator in replacement or
you got a bad voltage regulator by itself
looks like this
