Question about 1988 Plymouth Voyager

Blower fans for the air conditioner in the enging caopartment are not working. Air is cool while car is traveling but blows hot at stop lights etc. Do not see fan relay in the block by the battery.

    The compressor and other parts are less then a couple years old. It all started whe I had the oil changed at Jiffy Lube and they told me the battery tested weak. I replaced the battery an hour later on the next drive the air started getting hot while at a light but is cold when driving. So I checked the cooler fans and they were not running. When this happened in my Sunfire I just had to change a relay and bing it was working again.

    Getting no power to the cooling fans in the engine compartment. Do not see resistor for these fans in block by battery????

It is either the cooling temp switch or the fans relays there are two relay, one for the regular fan and one for the air conditioning fan, check it.

    The Relay - A/C Comp Throttle Cut-Off is located under hood, driver side, front side of strut tower, mounted front of wheelwell.

This is a classic sign that your AC unit lost pressure. Your going to have to have the system tested to see what the pressures actually are. Being a 22 year old car there is a good chance the compressor seals are leaking and the compressor will need to be replaced.

Check for 12-volts at the blower motor. If 12 volts is present, replace the blower motor. If not, check for a faulty relay or fan switch.Check the blower fan motor connections.If the connections are loose then it will not show 12 volt,even though it is good.There is a housing in which motor is mounted.that housing is sealed.You have to cut the housing to remove the blower motor.The blower motor is controlled by blower motor resistor.If the blower motor is tested fine and fan switch is checked ok then the blower motor resistor is faulty and has to be replaced. The other possibility can be clogged blower fan.Clean the dust around the fan and its spinning blades.Then see.

The blower is located behind the GLOVE BOX. Remove the GLOVE BOX and there will be 2 wires going into a plastic housing. In that plastic housing is where the BLOWER will be located.The fan relay is to the left of the fans, on the frame rail.The relay is controlled by the powertrain controller . Thanks. Suburban overheating and air conditioner blowing hot


If you have a viscous fan hub have it replaced as it is not working. The problem you have is that the engine is not driving the fan to draw air through the radiator when idling so the engine overheats . When moving the air flow from driving cools the radiator and so the temp goes back down. If you have electric fans have the codes read to find the fault or check why the electric fans are not working.

Why won't the air conditioner blow air?


The very first thing you need to do is to check for fuses or say faulty fuse. Secondly check fan which starts along with air conditioner, it might be manually switched off or the fan may have been clogged. Also reason can be lack of refrigerant - charge your air conditioner with refrigerant. Last thing you need to check is cooling coil - the cooling coil may freeze if there is no refrigerant in the system.

Air conditioner works fine while driving. When stopped for a light, temperature gage goes up and fan blows hot air.


Hello: Check the radiator cooling fan. With engine running and A/C on open hood look down on the back-side of the grill, that's where the cooling fan is. It should be running, if not check the fuses, cooling fan relays/module if they are ok then you may have a cooling fan motor failure. You can use jumper cables to hot wire the fan motor to see if it runs.

check to see if your cooling fans are working because when they dont work, your air will blow nice and cold when driving but will be hot air when stopped in traffic.

Air conditioner stop blowing in 2002 Dodge Caravan can feel cool air and vents when traveling down highway with ac power on. Just won't blow out


There is as blower motor resistor which is part of what makes your fan blow. So your fan isnt blowing but everything else works right? Thats what I would look @ first.

It means the blower fan is not running, look for wires that got knocked off, usually at the motor....

Good news is the AC sounds like it is working correctly, so this repair cost should be smaller. Apply external power to the fan terminal to see if it goes, if it does, problem is upstream, switch, resistors, etc.

But sounds like a fan. Test it. independently from the rest of the car

Air conditioner works but not blowing out the vents


Check the air directing servo motors under the glove box. they are 2 black boxes about 3"x3". you have to clean the contacts of grease with contact cleaner spray or alcohol.
