theres a sensor either on the radiator or the intake manifold. it looks kind of like a spark plug with out the white part and has one or two wires going to it. go to you local auto part store and they should be able to show you diagram of where it is on the car. you might be able to take it out and clean it and then flush out the antifreeze. they usually stop working because of build up in the cooling system. if you going to do all that to it you should replace the thermostat also. do keep driving it like this because its only a matter of time before you blow a head gasket and ruin the engine.

check the coolant fan to see it works, if it doesn't works check the fan relay. if you stop at the traffic,the coolant fan doesn't not works . Your engine will runs hot.
