SOURCE: jaguar x300 central locking problem

If the locks are working whilst you are driving then more and likely it is the actual door lock assy that is bad. the solenoid go bad and can cause erratic operation. But unfortunately they are only available with the whole door lock/latch assy.
I would disconnect the drivers and see if the problem still exists.

problem with security locking module located in boot fuse box. a simple check switch ignition on, the check engine light should stay on, it should only go out when engine starts. if it goes out with the other lights check for water ingress or poor connections on the ecm module, located o/s lower A post. a common problem was corroded wiring under the bonnet front o/s. under the washer bottle filleri assume this is a x300 car hope this helps.

Car stuck in theft mode, how do i get it out?

if your car is a 6 cyl. x300 see if the check engine light goes off when the ignition is switched on it should stay on until the engine starts, if it goes off with just ign. on, the ecm relay is not geeting the ok to start signal from the security/ locking module, the relay is located under bonnet front right the wiring to this relay is prone to corroding under the relays

I have aJaguar X300 series late 1996 xj 4L soveriegn and the button on the boot lid doesnt open it .The fob will open it but not the button.

Sounds like you have a faulty button switch or bad wiring, since the solenoid and micro switch seem to be working ok with the fob. Keep in mind, There is no manual release switch for these.
I hope this helps.
