It means you have turned the Over Drive off or that there is a problem with the OD system. Look for a button on the gear shift to turn it back on.

Hello! You vehicle has Overdrive...When traveling at highway speeds it lowers engine RPM...Increases mpg and lessens engine strain...On the end of your shifter is a button...Press it and O/D is on...Light is off...When your driving in town at lower speeds you can turn it off allowing quicker acceleration...Guru...........Saailer

Our 99 Cadillac Sevilles instrument panel is burnt out... Is this a fuse?... Or something major?

There should be a fuse for the gauges if that is what is not working. When you say burnt out.... do you mean nothing is functioning or there is no back lighting. If you are reffering to back lighting, the dash lights work in series with the park lights. Check for park lights working on the vehicle. If no park light, check fuses. If nothing working, try slapping on top of the dash area above the instrument panel to see if it starts working again

What does AFS of mean???? This is a indicator light on the dash.

Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) is used when for example if it was day time and you entered a dark parking garage the lights would detect and adapt to the lighting environment which will then automatically trigger the Bi-xenon headlights to turn on themselves in order to illuminate the road ahead when the vehicle anticipates it is necessary. It is an automatic feature which turns on by itself for your convenience therefore you wont have to induce any actions, the car does it all for you. And most Importantly (I quote) "the Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) automatically controls the headlight lighting pattern according to steering angle and vehicle speed to help provide better visibility at night."

Car with skid marks lighting up on dashboard what does this mean?

this is a traction control fault indicator light. this is most commonly caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor. you'll want to bring the car into the shop to be hooked up to a computer for a proper diagnosis.
