Most likely its govened ,5000rpm is a lot for these cars as they are so superior they dont have to rev like a hair drier ,hemispherical combustion chambers that are copyrighted give this car all the power it needs and anything over 3000rpm is way over the speed limit in any country in the world .This is a jaguar and has to be driven like a limo ,and polish it every week and clean the leather seats with cream every month as well.My jaguar never exceeds 50 mph because i always seem to attract the attentions of unwanted men in blue ..

2005 gran am Pontiac 3.4 v6 the car is idling on 5000 rpm I replaced the throttle housing gasket and throttle positioning sensor still nothing idling at 5000rpm still does anybody have and suggestions...

500 RPM or 5000? Reason I ask is the rev limiter shouldn't let it rev over 3500 in park or neutral? If idling at 500 then get an external tachometer and connect it to determine that your gauge isn't faulty! if at 5000 RPM it could be a stuck tps or possibly debris in the throttle body or a vacuum leak causing the idle to increase? Is it idling high or low compared to before it became faulty?

Engine wont rev above 2000rpm

If you have a hih miles truck,it is very possoble you have aclogged cat.Have a muffler shop test pressure in front and behind by drilling small holes, checkin w/gauge,then welding back. This should be free if you replace the cat.

If the engine has a constant miss the computer should record a trouble code or two.
Is the check engine light on ?

Honda stream rev issue

I think a trip to the Honda dealer is in order here for a full system scan and a fuel pressure test under a full throttle load.

Won't start, engine wont rev above 2000rpm

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle
