If you have never taken out a valve body and computer control system inside the transmission, I suggest you don't. Parts fall out. You could end up with a transmission that doesn't work.

I have a 2005 nissan pathfinder the code p1757 came up yesterday the check engine light is on and i have some oil or transmission fluid in my water

Well for Nissan vehicles the code means there is a problem with the ABS front brake solenoid valve. And that would not cause anything to leak into the radiator.
If the coolant is brown, its engine oil. If its pink, its transmission fluid.

The manufacters code number is p1757 what that mean?

that's a transmission code and it sensing the pressure is not right within the transmission, you need to take it in to a dealer and have them check this driving it like this can cause transmission problems with it ,,P1757....Governor pressure is above 3 psi when 0 psi is requested, this needs to be checked at a dealer ,good luck. PS if i were you id just do a complete service on it ,change the fluid and filter ,have it done at a transmission shop and you get a warranty on their work, that's the best route to go,they,ll also know what to do about the trouble code with it,good luck

Engine light came on and gave me a code 1757 what does it mean

P1757 is a transmission code. This one probably wouldn't have failed you in the emissions inspection. The P0442 will, though. The P1757 is a transmission governer pressure switch fault. Either the switch is bad, or the wiring to the switch is bad. If this was a history code stored in your computer, this may have been a one time occurance. If it's a current code, you will be looking at this circuit. It's easiest diagnosed with a scantool.

I have had to replace the governor on those dodge transmissions, and there is a filtering metal mesh screen around the governor inlet port that seems to always get plugged up with small metal shavings. The governor is located under the transmission pan to the rear of the main valve body.
