Sounds like you blew a fuse. The fuse involved is a circuit breaker but a fuse will fit where it goes it's a little medal box. If you have the owers manual it tells you which one it is. Wer'e Talking about the rear tailgate? The rest of the car works fine? Are the other windows power or crankup? if their power do they work? the switch is in the dash, pry it out as it just pops in. theres three wires on it . the power wire that comes on with the key and the up wire and the down wire. With a test light see if the power is there if not run a jumper to it and see what happens the power wire could be shorted to ground as could the up or the down wire so be careful. You hit a good wire the window may god down or up/ You put power on the power wire and the switch may put the window up and down both. The same ciucuit that runs the heater blower off the igtion switch is what turns the window relay on and if the heater blowrer works the window realy should be turning on and off. In side the rear door theres another wire ther thats hot all the time it just happens to use the same circut braker that the relay for key on does so if it's bad they're both dead. With the door panel off the door you can see the wires and the biggest wire should be hot if its not drag a power wire to it and jump power to it and see if the key wii put the window down now you can open the window and open the gate. Te wire can break right where the wire harness goes from the body to the door so if the fuse and the dash switch are hot and the window won't go the wires and the motor and even the window being stuck are likly. with the panel off the two wires hooked to the motor should bcome hot as you throw the switches one way and then the other as you try to go the other way. The two switches are independant except they both get their power from the same fuse the dash switch gets no power with the key off but the door key is hot all the time the battery is good. Motor bad or the window stuck and nothing happens. with the panel off and the window can be unbolted from the regulater and removed or lowered and as it haits the bottom it's closes the switch that lets you open the gate. now ou can fit what ever broke and it you don't like woring on power windows you may as well hire it done I like em myself 5 percent of my lifetime earnings are in electric windows.

My rear power window works from the switch at the console, but not using the key in the tailgate. Any suggestions?

You could only asume it would be the back door window control switch (operates off key barrel) or associated wiring, as this is wired in parallel to the main switch inside. You could just check to make sure it is plugged in correctly.

2004 4Runner Rear Wiper and Defroster won't work

I just had the same problem. I have an '04 4Runner and my rear wiper, fluid wash, and defrost stopped working after it was recently serviced. If you had the battery cables disconnected recently here is the solution...Start the engine and lower the rear tailgate window all the way... close the rear window and then turn the engine off. Restart the engine and the wiper, wash, and defrost. should work again. It has something to do with the computer which needs to be rebooted. Good luck.

1994 Toyota 4Runner, Rear window goes down on one side but not the other and then won't go back up. The key and the console button both work but I heard some sort of metal component inside the tailgate...

Sounds like something just fell apart inside. Probably just a roller or something. If you can't do it yourself, it shouldn't cost too much. Just make sure you stand there and watch, so you don't get ripped off. In fact, if you take the cover off the inside of the tailgate, maybe you can fix it yourself.

Toyota 4runner gate window, wiper, and keyless entry not working

make sure the back window is all the way up then try the wiper, if it still does not work then it is a sensor for the rear window (about $30.00) if you installed it yourself

Rocker switch for 94 4runner

There will be some dirt between the contacts.
The best way is to remove the centre console where the switch sits and clean the switch itself. It is an easy job, just a few screws to remove the center console.

98 4Runner rear window no longer operates

Open the rear hatch. Pull off the inner trim panel. Look to see if there is a little box with a bunch of wires connected to it. It may be at the lower edge, driver side. Turn the key on. Test for 12 volts at the solid BLUE wire (there is only 1 solid blue wire) that is connected to the box. Is there power? If not, check the 30 amp POWER fuse. If there IS power, this box may be bad. This is the power window relay for the rear hatch. The wiper/washer and the rear window motor power all come out of this box.
Check for power & get back to me before you buy a relay box, there are a few other tests I could share with you before we pronounce the relay box bad...

Hello, I'm having a rear window operation problem with my 1995 Toyota 4 runner. The window no longer will retract. I do hear a slight "click" when I rotate the keyed switch in either direction...

On my 1989 4runner the problem was the contacts on the relays that close to open or close the rear window. They are located on the drivers side under the side panel near the rear seats on the 89. I looked up the part numbers on the relays and found they are a dealer only item. Using the current rating and the physical size of the connections and a relay interchange manual I found better ones for under $10. It has been a few years ago so I am unable to tell you the part number. I think I got them from Newark Electronics. Toyota only sells the entire circuit boar for several hundred dollars. Another option would be to get one at a wrecking yard.
