i think it is a wiring problem mine does the same i keep pressing the bottom on and off then after a while it came on and stayed on then a few months later i pluged a satnav in the power point then it messed up the air conditioning again i have had a lot of wiring problems with mine

If I remember the change out recommendation it is check and or replace at 50,000 miles. Roughly 250,000 to 300,000 km.

This could be as simple as taking it down to the dealer and asking them to reprogramme the remote under the factory warranty. Before you do this however, please check to make sure the battery in the remote is not loose between the contacts, if they are tight on the battery, then a $5 battery replacement may solve the issue.
