Need some more info. How much gas are you putting in it? Does it smell like raw gas at anytime? Under the hood or under the car? Possible broken (rusted) fuel line. Any service engine lights on? Does the car seem to run well?

I put diesel instead of gasoline in my 2007 Toyota corolla 2007 ce & code p0420 came up

Not a big deal...You will need to drain the tank if there is more than 10% the total volume of diesel. If not, fill the tank with 90 to 92 octane and go ahead and run it. It will not have the same power and will probably smoke some but actually the diesel will help clean up the system some and definitly lube the parts. Its better to run a longer time with engine warmed up rather than short trips as diesel burns better hot. As you use the full tank, continue to "top off" to increase performance back to normal. If you have to drain the tank, just follow same procedure. Um green is for diesel...haha gotta give you a little ribbing.

Car run though about quarter of oil every 700 miles it's not burning the oil the engine is claen

the engine is not burning oil, how do you know this? Check drain plug, how about oil spots on drive way. Pull a sparkplug, see if it is fouled.

What oil should i use for my 96 saturn sl2

The engine on a 1996 Saturn SL uses SAE 5w-30 engine oil. The recommended oil-change interval for this engine is every 3,000 miles or three months, whichever comes sooner.

Some Saturn vehicles have an issue with the coolant temperature sensor for the computer. It is a 2-wire sensor mounted on the side of the cylinder head, IIRC. The issue is that the pins in the connector get rotted out with corrosion, causing the computer to receive a poor signal. If this is the case, a new sensor and wiring connector harness will solve the problem. Good luck with it.

Hi Darlene,

These engines can go well beyond 500,000 miles, and I know several people that can attest to that. There is one important thing you must know. ALWAYS check your oil at every gas fill up! Your SL2 is probably burning oil and needs to be checked. If you let it get too low you will spin bearings in the engine and it will be rendered useless. Check the oil and keep it at the top of the hatchmarks. It's a good idea to get two quarts of oil and leave them in the trunk this way you can fill as you need it.

The idle is probably the Idle Air Control valve (IAC). It is probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. Removing the throttle body and cleaning with carb cleaner to get the carbon off will get your idle working again. You cannot reset idles on these car and DO NOT touch the idle stop, that is not how idle is managed nor adjusted. The idle should be 1,200 RPMs cold and 800-850 warm.

Thanks,
Joe

I just tune up my car and know i am getting bad gas miles

The only way you can determine your gas mileage is by filling the tank then driving it down, filling it up again and dividing miles driven by gallons burned. You can't determine gas mileage by how fast the gage goes down. You may have made a mistake in your tune-up and got a couple of wires crossed. Someone may be staeling your gas.
