Have oil leaking into one spark plug hole will valve cover gasket and spark plug seals fix this? this is a 2000 four cyl honda.

Yes. The valve covers have seals that seal around the spark plug tubes where the plug wires go down through the valve cover. A valve cover set should come with the spark plug tube seals. This is a common problem with Honda. I also recommend replacing the plug wires because the rubber boot can get saturated with oil and cause a misfire. Sometimes it may look like the boot is clean when you wipe it off, but the oil is still in the pores and can cause the boot to allow the spark to arc over to the spark plug tube. Most of the time the ceramic on the plugs gets messed up also. This can also cause a misfire. If the plugs have any brown or black discoloration that does not easily wipe off with a rag, then I also recommend replacing the plugs. The discoloration is caused by carbon. Carbon is highly electrically conductive. This will allow the spark to travel down the side of the ceramic to the metal base of the spark plug.

How to remove spark plug boots?

spark plug boots just pull off the spark plugs. these are located under a cover on top of the engine, where the oil filler is. it is held on by two screws and lifts off. then you can access the spark plugs and boots, but make sure you dont pull them out by just pulling the wire itself, pull the top of the boots

My 2002 dodge neon has check engine light with coded p0302. I know to try replacing the plug/wires, are there any other common causes for this error code that I should check out?

Hi! When replacing the plugs and wires on this model be sure there is no oil in spark plug wells. You will notice the oil on the plug wire boot when removing it. If there is any oil on any of the boots the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals will need to be replaced or the misfire code you mentioned will return. Hope this information helps!

97 accord oil aroud spark plug and boot

Get new cables, or try to bend the collar on the boot tighter. As far as the oil, it could have been spilled from a oil change.

1989 tOYOTA CRESSIDA sAPRK PLUGS WELLS. OIL IN THE SPARK WELL

The 7MGE has 2 separate valve covers/gaskets with 8 screws holding each cover that will loosen over time.
Find the phillips screws holding on the covers and retighten snugly by hand do not overtighten!
Pull plug boots/wires by the boot not the wire and use paper towels or rags on a long screwdriver etc to absorb the oil from the wells.
Carefully clean plug boots with spray brake cleaner (avoid spraying anything but the boot) and let dry.
Apply 100% silicone grease to inner boot before reinstalling to allow future removal without damage.
If your engine is particularly dirty you may need to remove the covers first and clean all mating surfaces then reinstall.
