There is a problem with my 2004 Malibus steering, I have the V6 LS, when turning left there is no resistance and when turning right there is normal resistance? I have no Idea what the problem is, the dealership wants to put a gear box in but I talked with a friend that use to work at GM and he said it was the engines electrical system that was messed up and that the engine needed to be replaced, whats going on?
-   My power steering light came on a while back, but there was no problem. I put air in the tires and the light went off. Then, a couple of days ago, it came on again. With normal resistance in the steering itself, I thought that it was a wiring problem. I didn't drive for 3 days, and when I went to start it and back out of my driveway, then steering became hard and almost impossible to turn both left and right. I was able to drive to work, but it is a definite safety hazard to me and other drivers. I have a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu LS 3.5L V6.-   Asylus

-   I have the exact same problem. It seems to occur more often when the car has been sitting in the sun. Probably something to do with the electrical connections.

The engine electrical system would not be fixed by replacing the engine, but by replacing whatever part is bad (the engine itself is not electrical). However, didn't some of those things have electric power steering? I hear there were lots of problems with those. As I recall, it's not the gear box, but the steering column that needs replaced to fix this problem.

My remote fob no longer works and now the key will not lock or unlock the door or trunk locks. Also the CD player will not operate but when the battery cables are removed and replaced it will operate for a short period of time before it quits again. The battery tested was tested and is good.

I have a 2004 Chevy (Malibu) Classic. The problem is, the AC control panel light will start blinking and I can hear the compressor cycle off and on at the same time as the blinking occurs. While driving I can also feel it pulling on the engine. It feels like the car is trying to die. This car has been in the shop six different times in the past two years and the only thing they do is replace the control panel/buttons. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what could be wrong with the car. Please help! Mesha
