Could be as bad as the Head Gaskets, or as easy as needing to 'burp' the coolant system. Was the cooling system touched recently? Such as replacing thermostat or anti-freeze/coolant? If so, the system probably needs to have all trapped air removed - called burping.

If there's any oily residue in the coolant or over flow tank, than the head gaskets are most likely bad. Call your mechanic.

Coolant light will not clear after filling with coolant

Are you sure it is the coolant light? The coolant system is a sealed unit and should not need topping up unless there is a leak!

Cant find the valve to let air pressure from my radiator for my water to flow right

FILL COOLANT SYSTEM UP BY POURING COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION.WHEN YOU POUR COOLANT IN EXPANSION TANK AIR BLEED OFF THROUGH THE SMALL COOLANT LINES GOING TO EXPANSION TANK.WITH PRESSURE CAP OFF RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL IN EXPANSION IS AT FULL COLD MARK.WHAT YOU TO DO CRANK ENGINE UP LET IDLE WARM UP UNTIL COOLANT DROPS IN EXPANSION TANK KEEP ADDING COOLANT UNTIL STOP DROPPING STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL START RISING IN EXPANSION TANK.PUT PRESSURE CAP BACK ON RADIATOR.WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE.IF START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE LET IT SIT FOR LITTLE WHILE TAKE A LARGE RAG OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDING TO RELEASE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM.WHEN PRESSURE IS RELEASED OPEN PRESSURE CAP ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK.CRANK ENGINE AGAIN LET IDLE WHEN TEMPERATURE GAUGE START CLIMBING. TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT FOR WHILE BEFORE OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.WHEN YOUR THERMOSTAT OPENS WHEN TOP RADIATOR HOSE IS HOT AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE STOP CLIMBING AND COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION TANK.ALL AIR IS EXPELLED FROM COOLANT SYSTEM TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING.

How do i put water for the radiator?

Does your car have a cap or a sealed unit? You don't want a sealed unit. You want to be able to check your water.Push down and Twist the cap off when cold, not hot, fill it up with coolant, 50/50 mix, and fill up the expansion tank. It says coolant on it. The car will balance itself out. Check the water in your battery while you are at it. It dries out too. Then check the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and oil. That should keep you busy next Saturday. Hope this helps.

My coolant expansion tank overflows after 20 minutes of running the engine

you either have a blown head gasket or cracked head both reasons will put compression gas into coolant system since air gets hotter faster than coolant any air in system will cause very fast over heating and push coolant out. the ford 3.0 is has a record of this problem the fix is not cheap and if you do it your self or have a shop do it both heads should be done and the t stat also replacing water pump would be wise

Cooling system problem

well it might overheat because air got into system, replace the thermostant and then fill system, run van keepin an eye on the temp, it will start to run hot because coolant has not filled the motor just the radiator, when it starts running hot shut it down, wait 3 minutes and start, now this is done with cap off, after restart coolant should get sucked in get filling radiator as needed, may get messy but got to bleed cooling system. hope thius helps.

Heater is only blowing cold air, engine coolant is not all the way full. What do I do?

First, fill the coolant - heat extracted by the coolant from the engine is used to heat your climate-controlled air. If you don't have enough coolant, you won't have the ability to heat your interior. Once you've filled the coolant, burp the system (click my screenname, go to Tips and Tricks, and the procedure is there). That should do it.

If you still don't get heat, disconnect the heater core hoses, put one in a bucket, and use an air compressor to blow into the other one. Then reverse it (swap hoses) - you may have something blocking coolant flow to the heater core, keeping it from generating the heated air in the car. Once that's done, reattach the heater core hoses, top off coolant, and burp the system again.

Have a water sounding noise coming from the dash when accelerating

It sounds like you have air in your cooling system, Check your coolant level and add if your low. Fill the radiator if your low on coolant and the over flow tank with GM Dex cool with 50/50 mix of water. open the radiator cap to the first click to allow the air to work it's way through out the system and out through the radiator cap and in to the over flow. Once the engine cools down, the coolant in the over flow tank will flow into the radiator, so keep an eye on the over flow tank and refill to the full mark as needed. If you have not flushed out the coolant system, you may want to. The GM Dex cool has a life expectancy of 5 years or 150.000 miles, and should be replaced. The capacity of your cooling system is 11.5 liters, good luck.

1996 cadillac deville overheat..radiator?

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line, this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

How do i refill the coolant in the car after replacing upper hose

hello, your car has a reservoir tank were you put the coolant in at all you have to do is start your car and it'll draw coolant from there after your car runs a few minutes check your coolant reservoir tank it;ll probably be close to empty also since you took your hose off you'll have air in your system that you'll need to bleed out of the system otherwise your car will over heat and you wont get proper coolant flow the bleeder valve is a small brass bolt that you can use a wrench to open and close it with, with your car running just open the valve until you see coolant flow out then close it do this till you get a solid stream of coolant flow and check your reservoir often while doing this keep it full.
