If you're looking for a towing rig, I'd try to find one with the 4.9L straight-six. That thing was a towing beast. Here is some specs I found on one that was a 1990. As mentioned, axle ratio, transmission etc. will vary.

Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 4.9 liters Horsepower: 145 hp Torque: 265 ft-lbs. Maximum Towing Capacity: 7500 lbs.

ALso, here copuld find other details: fordf150.net/specs

Hope helps.

I have a 2004 Mazda Tribute 6 cylinder all time 4 wheel drive and wondering, can it be flat 4 towed behind a motorhome?

Towing this vehicle will depend on the type of transfer case the vehicle is equipped with. I would suggest calling your dealer and asking them or a reputable transmission repair facility for their opinion to be on the safe side

1989 sidekick lost all ****** fluid while towing

Is this a 4 wheel drive or a two wheel drive? I am assuming automatic transmission. If a 2 wheel drive automatic, it isn't designed to be towed four down. READ the owners manual. It needs to be towed on a dolly... backwards! If a 4 wheel drive, it most likely the transfer case wasn't in neutral. Also, read the manual.

Where is number 5 cylinder located

On Ford engines, #5 cylinder is located between #4 cylinder and #6 cylinder (see picture) Please note that the arrow in the picture is pointing toward the fornt of the engine, NOT the front of the vehicle. With this in mind, the picture is accurate for both front wheel drive vehicles and rear wheel drive vehicles.

I need to find out how to tow a jeep grand cherokee limited with full time 4 wheel drive all 4 wheels down behind a motor home. I hope you can help me. Thank you

You can tow in with the transfer case in neutral as long as all 4 wheels are on the ground like with a tow bar.If you use a tow dolly you will have to remove the rear drive shaft.This transfer case has a viscous coupling that will over heat if all the wheel dont turn at the same rate.

I want to tow a kia sportage can I use a tow dolly

If you have a four wheel drive Sportage, you will destroy your transmission by towing the vehicle with the rear wheels on the road and the engine not running. The problem is that the wheels will spin the transmission, causing wear on it since there is no transmission oil flowing while the vehicle engine is not running. You can, however, remove the rear driveshaft from the Sportage and that will allow you to safely use a tow dolly, since the rear wheels will be free spinning.

I want to know if a 2002 saturn L100 4 cyl can be towed with a tow bar

Hi,

To my knowledge, generally on most vehicles:
  • if it is manual transmission, yes;
  • if it is automatic front wheel drive, front must be lifted;
  • if it is automatic rear wheel drive, rear must be lifted;
  • if it is all wheel drive, no.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
