This may seem like a dumb question but is it definitely the left side caliper the the part store gave you? The bleeder should be pointing up.I have had it happen before where the right side was able to be installed on the left side. Also try locking off all brake hoses to make sure the master cylinder is building pressure holding and not bleeding off. Let me know and will help best I can.

Try locking that line off that you replaced the caliper and pump up the brake pedal and see if the brake pedal pumps up and holds pressure. If it pressure holds like this.Try bleeding it while vehicle is running. This should be bleeding sequence pass rear driver rear pass front driver front. Try this first Additionally open the bleeder and let it just sit with the master cylinder cap off for 10 minutes or so and see if fluid will come out.If it does then try bleeding after the fluid gets back through the line.

98 dodge caravan rear wheel locked up

That would likely be caused by the ABS brake hydraulic control unit leaking pressure to the rear brake caliper, not the proporting valve..

Replaced some brake line, rear pads and one rear wheel cylinder. Now no pressure and nothing happening when trying to bleed.

Does the car have ABS ? And does it have an equalizer block for the 4 wheels ?
It sounds like the ABS has been affected, or there is an equalizer block that is stuck on the front wheels only.
Can you open the bleeder or the rear line on the master cyl and get fluid to come out by depressing the pedal ?

The left rear wheel is locked up

This can be caused by a defective anti lock brake system ABS for short, this year has active ABS, this means the system can apply hydraulic pressure to the brakes with the driver never touching the brake pedal, if the valve that controls this pressure to the wheel leaks or sticks the brakes will lock up. To confirm this release pressure at the wheel by opening the brake caliper bleeder valve at the top of the brake caliper with the engine off. If the wheel spins free after the pressure is released you will need the ABS checked and quite possibly a new ABS hydraulic control unit. This type of failure is very rare but it does happen

I have a 1990 Nissan maxima that has been leaking a dark brown fluid on the rear driver side. It smells like gas when u walk up on it but had it checked for leaks and mechanic said there were no gas leaks....

your maxima is a front wheel drive. a torn boot would leak grease, and it would be in the front.
the leak could be old gas with rust in it... take it in and pressure test the fuel system, also check the fuel filter.,especially if the car cranks for a few seconds before starting some times ,that means there is a pressure drop..

I have no brake pressure. The rear calipers and master cylinder are new. There are no apparent leaks in the lines, and yet there is still no pressure in the brake system. The pedal just sinks to the floor....

the reson u get no pressure is that you need the special tool to bleed the ABS control hydraulic valve, u will need to have the dealer do this, air is trapped in the ABS control and until you bleed it correctly with the tool you will have no brake pressure.

Caliper is sticking

the ABS valve in the ABS hydraulic control unit is leaking pressure and causing brake to apply is the most likely thing wrong..

bleed the brakes and see if it goes away.

if you add fluid as your brakes wore down when they compressed the calipers in the fluid pushes back into the reservoir causing it to overfill.
is it leaking out the top?or from where the lines connect? do they feel spongy?your breaks shouldn't grab per say you have anti lock brakes so you should get a pulsation when you hit them hard. if you have a leak in the reservoir you could have sucked in some air.causing a loss of hydraulic pressure.have you noticed your fluid level drop significantly? hope i helped you figure it out or gave you some kinda clue.

Leak

Sounds like a bad brake wheel cylinder (drum brakes) or caliper (disk brakes).

I have replaced the Clutch Slave for a 1990 Supra Turbo, and after the next day all the Fluid leaks out from the resevior.I don know wher the fluid goes. what should I do next? Thank You, Frank

Hey Frank. When one cylinder goes the other usually follows because higher pressure needed to operate a new cylinder, sometimes the fluid leaks down the firewall or down your clutch pedal onto the floor, if its your master cylinder that is.You can get a new one or get your old one rehoned and a stainless steel tube inserted and it will last forever as theyre made of aluminium and wear. Either way you'l need to buy a new kit for the inside of it.Be mindful what you order as some models of cars the abs and non abs cylinders are a very slight different diameter. I hope this helps.

Bleeding abs brakes

Try using a pressure bleeder. It will force the air out. Works every time.
