Question about 1986 Chrysler LeBaron
After disconecting you battery. If you remove the steering wheel cover I
believe it is 4 screws. Then if you look at the bottom of the steering
wheel near the ignition you should see a little button/hole. you need a
very small screwdriver or pen/pencil to push this button. Push it and
turn the key to the on position. It should come out farly easily. Once
you have it out. hold the outside part and while watching the end
oppisit the key end turn the key until the other end lines up as to
appear to be able to slide apart easily. then that same button you
pushed eariler you need to pull out carefully. when it is out the
outside and inside of the ingition should slid apart easily and you
should be able to see the broken part of the key and push it out using a
small knife or something tine but hard.
It sounds hard but it really isn't just make sure you keep every thing lined up. so it goes back together easily.
If you thnikin that cant do it, a qualified locksmith can often do that for you. They have some rather clever tools for just such a situation.
