I was wondering if you are able to get a chart or specification sheet on brake seal sizes I.D O.D etc. Also the thread pitch and size brake line fittings for automotive application. australian standard.

Yes in the parts catalogue ,the standard is metric threads you should be able to order these parts in a auto factor

1995 ford windstar thermostat housing bolt torque spec


Most people don't bother using a torque wrench to tighten a thermostat housing.

It is more important to be careful and tighten each bolt a little at a time. You do not want to warp, crack, miss align the part you are bolting.

It does not take a lot of torque to seal a thermostat housing. I would guess somewhere between 15 and 20 ft lbs.

It is often hard to find such torque specs for specific vehicles.

For bolts that you cannot find a specified torque spec, you can refer to a standard bolt torque chart. The charts are based on the diameter of the bolt threads not the wrench size used to fit the bolt head. The charts also depend on the hardness of the bolt material. Also keep in mind the material you are bolting into.

Keep in mind that thermostat housing bolts are just sealing a gasket. They are not holding the entire car together.

After turning wrenches for many years, most mechanics just know by feel.

There are cases where a torque wrench is mandatory. Like head bolts, wheel bearing/hub nuts, rod caps, main bearing, etc.

Measure the outer diameter of the outer tie rod
threads & the thread pitch of the threads


If it appears to be a metric size,the thread pitch will
confirm that & you convert the diameter to metric
by dividing by .0395

I need help on removing a broken bleeder valve on the rear drum of a 1993 Chevy full size truck. I have tried EZ out and didn't work.


BUY NEW BRAKE WHEEL CYLINDER IF BLEEDER VALVE BROKEN. BRAKE WHEEL CYLINDERS DONT COST THAT MUCH.

Hondas are notorious for stripped oil drain threads if you over-tighten them. Remove the drain plug and take it to an Auto Parts store and have them check the size in mm and then tell them to check the pitch. Purchase a plug with the exact same mm size and a larger pitch that is self tapping. Oil-Tite makes them. Use thread cutting oil and slowly go in and out until the threads are all cut. Clean the threads out and it should not leak. If it does use a fiber gasket and it will seal. If the threads inside the pan are not stripped and the drain plug itself has the stripped threads you can buy a replacement at almost any parts store. Another option is to use just buy a larger drain plug and the use a tap & die to cut new threads in the il pan that match the new drain plug you bought.

How do we calculate the exact torque on the cylinder bolt if we dont know the right specs of the engine.only basis is 1500 hp thanks


Look up torque specifications in the Engineers Handbook. I found a copy using Google search. The charts give the specs. by bolt size and hardness. Bolt and nuts have the hardness forged as marks on the top of the fastener. Three marks is a five (don't ask me why), five is a seven hard, etc. The diameters and thread patterns are given for each type.

Torque on small nuts and bolts is common sence most of the time There is a thick gasket under the carb then you have to take into account the grade of the bolt and the thread pitch and its size Aruel of thumb is the finer the theard and lower the pitch the more torque it requires because it will be a much higher grade of metal The bolts to your cabburtor are between 18 to 26 ft lbs you don;t want to distorut the gasket never over tighten with gaskets there job is to make a good seal good luck

what i usually do if the money is available is purchase the brake lines in all sizes from the auto parts store and return any unused parts to the auto parts store,for a refund. they usually know the sizes you need ; you could also do the front first then the rear, or replace one line to get the size, also need a tubing bender to bend the brake lines, 'bleeder screws are usually three choices or go to ford or mercury, once you get started its not too bad, beware of compression fittings (unsafe to do it that way) Good Luck .
