Question about 2004 Renault 181

Have a 54 plate megane 1.5 dci today would not go into 2,4 or reverse gear but 1,3&5 all ok however now the car is in neutral but will take off has in first but gear lever wont move

Two possible causes:
1 - the command rods that transmit the movement from the lever to the gearbox are not in the correct position. The  intermediate  support post is out or a junction is popped out - inspect the entire mechanism and if an articulation is loose then replace the rod.
2 - the command levers from the gearbox are defective. The gearbox must be opened and the levers replaced

I assume you are looking for cylinder head tightening torque specifications?

Stage 1: 25nm
Stage 2: 25nm
Stage 3: 90 deg
Stage 4: 90 deg
Stage 5: 90 deg +- 10deg

Yes that is correct- a total of 270 degrees!

Yes, that is correct- a total of 270 degrees (3/4 of a turn!)

I would be looking inside the fan box as it is normally cooled by the air that is drawn in by the fan

1991 Caprice No reverse. Moves in neutral. All forward gears OK.


shift linkage needs adjusting,,could be bent, easy fix, located along firewall to fram beneath the column, ask your son wut he ran over and didnt tell u about... hope i could help...:)

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.
